    Shifter rattle

Well my shifter is annoyinly loose, i have to replace the bushings..when the car is running it has a very annoying rattle unless i hold the shifter firmly.i thought it was just the linkage rattling b/c there was no bushings..well i was under the car yesterday and relized the the linkage is resting on the exhaust flange..it looks like the pre-muffler was replaced along with the piping to the flange and the flange...i was wondering if there is an easy way out besides messing with the exhaust to much...i'll try to post pics tonite
    Thanks

you can pull the shifter out from the top.I just did bushings on my mx3, and i think the exhaust is close to begin with.It took some time but i used a 12mm long wrench instead of a ratchet.

Yea but when I put it back it its still going to be touching the exhaust..thats what im trying to prevent..it looks like the shop that the previous owner went to put the pipe/flange to close to the exhaust.the linkage is resting on the flange

ouch, i guess you only have one option, which is to get the exhaust redone or try and bend it yourself.Try and heat up the point at which you want to bend, with a propane torch. If all else fails, take it to an exhaust shop and have em tweak on it.Cant cost too much.

maybe 1/4"+ after i pull it up and i let it go i can hear it hit the pipe. Could the worn out bushings cause that much of a drop??
