    GTX on MS1 problems

    i'm trying to help a friend from FEOA get his car started. i sent him all my cranking tables that i used with GTX injectors and its still not working. its doing something weird when he lets off of the key after cranking, you can see this below. the rpm signal hangs at like 80 something rpm for several seconds after he stops cranking.

    thoughts?

    btw ryan he is signed up here as EGTeric95 but he says he cant post anywhere for some reason?

    oh btw the timing is spot on while cranking (checked with a timing light) so it is sparking and appears to have a good RPM signal...

    the injection settings all look right, and hes using all my values for cranking, ASE, and WUE

        also the car runs quite well on starting fluid i guess

          Have you checked that the injectors are actually firing? His spark angle seems to read off - it should read 10 in the MS

          My first check would be the actual injectors. Plug in a spare injector in the injector plugs one at a time and see if it's actuated. That way you won't need to pull off the fuel rail.

          Also use a voltmeter to check connectivity at the MS box and at each of the terminating plugs at each sensor and actuator.

            sweet... i can post again.. putup a new datalog on Imazda the other day...


            on a side note could the nuetral safety switch wires being broken off at the trans keep me from running?

              I don't think that there is a neutral switch, but there is a clutch one though...

                well wtvr sensor is on the lower front of teh trans that has 2 wires coming out.. its a black circle cap onteh trans...

                well the wires are broken and gone and want to know if thats got anything to do with my issues...

                  the one on the front of the trans (like front of the car) is for your reverse lights.

                  if the engine is cranking, then it should be starting. the MS has power, you have spark and fuel...

                    If the sensor on the back of the trans isn't working correctly it can do weird things to the idle. At least it does on 3rd Gen Pros.

                      thats with a stock ecu, he's trying to troubleshoot a no-start with megasquirt

                        I figured that wouldn't be all that helpful, but sometimes one suggestion could lead to another. I'm getting ready to install my own MS later this week so I'm sure there will be plenty of questions waiting for you guys to help with.

                          the connectivity of the injectors are all good...still no start just crank and i cant even get it to try and kick over.

                              In the first post - the graph shows high TP - are you holding your gas pedal open when you are cranking? If you hold the throttle at high levels or for long enough MS goes into flood clear mode - it wont pulse the injectors.

                              Take out the plugs and let the extra fuel evaporate for a while and then make a starting attempt (no throttle) and post up the datalog......
