    BPT question

Ok so I've got a BP with a Vj20 on it, what should the timing be? I've got it at 10 deg currently. Looking on here suggests maybe I should be using 14-16, I beleive I am running lean right now and its a little slow on the get go. I was going to pop in a wideband AEM o2 sensor to try and diagnose the problem what should I be looking for?

you should probably be in the 12's somewhere at WOT in boost (AFR)

10* base timing is the best place to start. you can try advancing it a little at a time but you run the risk of detonation. definately dont mess with that till you find out if you are having AFR issues.

I'm getting my AEM kit today, what should I be looking for, do I change it at the airbox?

you can tune the vaf to tweak it, but bear in mind that it will change your AFR across the board so richening it will affect your gas mileage as well (it will go down).

also, thats a band aid fix if you think the real problem is a weak fuel pump as (i think) you mentioned before

It could be but I dont know for sure the fuel pump works I just don't know if its enough. People on here say they have no problems with the b6. The car heats up really fast even at idle and the heater is really really hot.

the stock pump should be ok as long as its working at full capacity. its at least what.. 14 years old at this point?

Yup but the car only had about 144,000 km when I got it. Theres no real way to test it... I dont want to waste money on something I may or may not need, I also don't want to break the engine either...

you can test it with a fuel pressure gauge. safest/easiest to do it on the dyno so that you can be right there looking at the gauge in the engine bay while the motor is at full boost.

                    ?

the wideband kit will tell you your AFR. that should really have nothing to do with your fuel pressure, so even if you got a lean reading it wouldnt tell you if you need a new pump or not.

Well couldn't it be lean because of low fuel pressure and the fact that I can't seem to get past about 140km/h

yes that could be one reason that it's lean

So I can get the pump and hope that it fixes it, if it doens't back to square 1.
