    Fiberglassing Q

So Im getting ready for the interior job and the doors are the first thing to do..... should I do a layer of resin and then like 2 layers of mat and then cover the thing in bondy filler and sand it? or do more layers of mat? or do 2 layers or so and then do like 4 around where the speaker will go?

also should I leave the panels on the door and just take the whole door off that way I dont have to worry about it warping or anything?

are you doing it over the door panels, like the alpine RSX, or are you completely making new door panels, like the alpine civic?

ummm more like the RSX basically im just gonna take the door panel and build on to it.... and once the frame work for the new speakers rings are done cover the whole thing in prolly panty hose or carpet then just worry about the speaker area wtih a lot of mat and hten just put resin over the rest of the door and use body filer to smooth it all out....

So the panel will stay on and will be added to and covered

for that, take the door panel off, and mount it to a piece of sturdy wood. but before you do, cover it with aluminum foil, so any resin the drips off the edge of the door panel doesn't stick mounting it to the wood will keep it from flexing, and give you something to carry it with, if there is still wet resin on the door panel around the speakers you're going to want a layer of fleece, and at least 2 layers of mat for the rest of the door, at least 1-2 layers of mat. you don't want to do just resin, it'll crack off very easily

get some fleece at walmart. disposable rubber gloves, lots of them. extra hardener, since if it's under 60 degrees, double how much they recomend, which is like 14 drops per ounce. at the paint section at walmart get some measuring buckets. 64 ounce/ 2 quart is plenty big. one quart is 1/4 a gallon. pick up extra aluminum foil. lots of masking tape. a bunch of cheap paint brushes.
