    wtf????

    I have a non usdm tranny!!!! to be quite honest i feel stupid saying this but really i never devoted any time to figuring it out as i had a crapload of other stuff to do. ever since i got the car the center diff lock didnt work, i just flashed... well now i just saw my first picture of the usdm vs the jdm (thanks steve on his 4wd buildup page in the photoforum). The reason why I could never find the motor is because it wasnt there! im wishing i put it up in the air to see if it would spin all the tires (too late now).

    honestly when i got the car it had whiteline swaybars on it. Which gave jay a chuckle... but im pretty damn sure its 1 not the original and 2 its not usdm... i just dont understand why someone would ever remove the diff lock assembly, there is not really a need even if it didnt work.

    i guess before i get too excited are there any other ways to tell usdm vs jdm? i understand gtx vs gtr is pretty hard (minus a front mount issue) but usdm vs jdm any suggestions?

    btw im thinking come this winter (maybe next winter) i am going to do the deed and tear my fwd down to nuts and bolts to get 4wd back on the road... realistically 4wd is a HUGE HUGE HUGE project right now but then i sat back and though about the fact i have almost everything i need other than supplies, but parts im basically complete having this amazing FWD... not to mention as much as i thought i would love it i HATE having 2 damn cars in the garage, no space SUCKS so im kinda to the point where one has to go, and the less cool of the 2 is looking to be the likely candidate.

      if the diff lock motor is missing theres a pretty good chance its a gtx or gtr tranny... i dont believe there are any other external differences however.

        sweet, i know thats no forsure answer but that has me all excited, that was going to be the one damn thing that would have driven me crazy, those stupid things are SO hard to find when you dont have to pay 300 dollars to ship it. that is awesome... kinda makes up for all the bull ish i have delt with on my stupid FWD its the car gods saying "quit wasting your damn time on that pos, 4WD is lonely"

          they cant be THAT hard to find, with CS somewhat local and all...

          heck, i bought one for $60...

            they dont sell motors any more, so they dont have a stream of them coming in. Not only that there are like 2 or so employees that have vehicles that require this hard to get tranny so they understandably grab them all up.

            I couldnt find ANYONE willing to let one go for more than like 250 and they were ALL on the east coast every time i came across one.
