    That's not good. Bearings, probably.

yikes... there's no brass I know of inside the engine, other than possibly valve guides (doubtful), and bearings.... good luck!

the only way that material will get into the oil is via cyl head drain holes.
you should be able to see traces of material. if you took of your valve cover and inspected it .
or is just pieces of your oil pump or something?

if it is brass flakes/shavings then the rod bearings are taking a crap on you.

Many of the bearings in an engine contain Brass because it is a soft metal.
If you are seeing brass shavings in your oil now, it is time to pull the engine and replace your bearings
and inspect the crank and camshaft bearing surfaces.

Racing engines don't typically last for more than one race or two.
They are torn down and rebuilt for almost every race.

i'd be changing the oil before every race for abuse like that... i'd also probably be running like straight 40 weight synthetic

ok if im taking the bearings out... i have heard they can be just rolled in the bottom without pulling the motor. is that true? and where can i get some replacement bearings? i only have about 6 nights left before the season is up. i would like to hold off on a rebuild till then
