The carpet in my car, how to remove seats

My car is in like perfect condition on the inside, except the carpet is full of dirt and matted up, so I want to take the seats out to shampoo the carpet lol.....

I know a few cars, you can take the WHHOOLLE seat out of the car from under the body, are th eproteges like that also, and if so, is it relatively easy to do?

The seats are very easy to take out...
There is four bolts on the seat brackets, you access them inside the car, under the seat. and then disconnect the electric seatbelt connector under the drivers side seat and the seats pull right out.

Taking the front seats off is easy, but the whole carpet will take some time to remove. You need to take off the back seat as well as many other small pieces along the way that hold the carpet down. Not a complicated job, but definately time consuming.

Then it'll take you about 10 minutes to remove the front seats. Good luck!

5 minutes with 2 guys and a breaker bar and 14mm sockets, you're set . and ripping out the entire carpet isn't necessary to just shampoo the carpet, see, unfortunately, if you're like me, your carpet has become entirely too thread bare to even WARRANT shampooing. so likewise, it's getting stripped out, dynamatted, insulated and replaced. word to the wise for you, use a deep socket 14mm socket, time and time again, the deep socket has proven to be the key to getting the right torque to avoid stripping the seat bolts or the thread. also, a hefty torque wrench or sizeable breaker bar is helpful, as well as a 6 inch socket extension. good luck.

Yea I'd have to say get a breaker bar, too... I took my 323 seats out with a regular socket wrench and it was a BEAR! I didn't have a breaker bar at the time, so what was a guy to do? hehehe..

i installed black carpet into my Protege...removing the carpet is EASY i don't know what you guys are talking about....

remove the seats.... 4 x 14mm each and then you remove the doorsill plates, remove the center console and pop up the rear seat cushion and the rest should be easy as hell. Just pop out a couple of clips and the carpet rips right out with ease.

If you remove the carpet, you'll usually find at least a dollar in change on the floorpan of the car !! One time I removed the carpet from this one escort (needed some wiring from the harness) and i found a ****load of quarters under the drivers seat, as if someone dropped a few bucks worth. I got about 4 dolars out of that car
