    A/C Delete on SOHC

Got a gal here (I fix cars in a college town) who's AC compressor is shot and making all kinds of noise. I'd like to either run a shorter belt or an A/C delete kit a la dummy pulley and belt kit if someone already makes one.

Anyone know part numbers for shorter belts, how to go with the factory way which came without A/C, or how to bypass the belt routing to the A/C compressor please show me the light.

I appreciate it, oh and if anyone happens to have a automatic seatbelt track and motor for sale for the left side (driverside) for a 2 dr 95 escort lemme know.

    Thanks.

      what the **** is that^^^^^
I live my life a quarter pounder at a time. And for those 500 calories or more, I'm free. I need FRIES! Two of them. The big ones. Oh, and I need them tonight. You're lucky the double shot of BBQ sauce didn't blow the seam on your nugget box. There she is, 2 pounds of pure beef. My dad ate it in 9.0 seconds flat. Check it out, it's like this. If I lose, winner takes my happy meal. But if I win, I take the burger and the toy. To some people, that's more important.

HA! her setup is the only one not shown in the picture.

Just alternator and AC. No power steering.

So it would be just alternator. I'll need to add another idler pulley then?

What size belt is required and where can I get the pulley? Should I check @ the dealer?

Why not try putting an oil charge into the AC ???

Because the freaking pulley sounds like it's about to fly off of there any second.
The AC hasn't worked for years apparently.

And it sounds terrible like this with the AC in the off position with the pulley clutch disengaged.

Don't think AC charge oil is going to help this situation.

Information comming down the pipeline from the previous owner sez. he had some sort of underhood fire which his mechanic told him was due to the "AC thingy" and he had to "get a new belt and stuff".

The car sat in the kids driveway for Ohhh...about a year. And then this girl bought it for $50. And is now realizing that theres no such thing as a $50 dollar car.

it looks like you can get an idler that goes in place of the a/c compressor. get her one of these and that belt i said before.

Cool thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

The one above is the one I need.

Says to use the original belt.

Guess you had a ranger as your Set Vehicle. The link you sent me was one for a Ford ranger!

haha, yeah. the ranger is the first vehicle i put on there so it seems like it's a default or something. this should be the one you need. the only other thing i can think of is hitting a j/y for the bracket and pulley that ford puts there on a non a/c engine, but i think the a/c delete setup from AZ will be just as easy.

edit: haha, i dunno why that truck would have an a/c delete pulley available for it. it uses v-belts, and the one for the a/c doesnt run anything else. you would just pull the belt.

If you're hearing noises from that area there is a real good chance that it is the tensioner for the belt. The pulley on the tensioner started to go on my car around 130000 miles and it squealed like a mofo. Stick a 3/8 inch ratchet in the little tab on the top of the tensioner bracket and release tension on the belt so that you can spin the pulley freely and see what condition it's in, when I replaced mine it felt like there was sand or something grinding away in the pulley.

                        Ok right on.

My dad taught me an old trick. Take a long screwdriver and use it like a stethoscope. He'd put the handle up to his ear and put the tip on the ac compressor or the alternator, or whatever the suspect (the body not the pulley ) and listen to where the noise was coming from.

I'll double check and make sure it's the AC compressor before I start throwing parts at it.

if she doesn't have P/S, then she has this accessory arm:

I picked one up in case I decided to go to a manual rack.
