    Project 1988 Mazda Familia GT

    Thought Ide be the first to start off this section. My Project platform is a 1988 Mazda Familia(323) GT with the Factory Original 1.6l 16 valve DOHC Turbocharged engine.
    It has seen many new additions/modifications since Ive recieved it.

    Eventually, I would like to build it to a 300HP Sleeper. Will take alot of work, But from what ive seen from other people, The car/Engine have the potential.

    As it sits:
    -Chipped ECU by CorkSport In Vancouver, Remapped to run 16psi
    -HKS Manual Boost Controller
    -Turbo XS Type H Recirc/Atmospheric Blow Off Valve
    -2.5" Catback Magnaflow Exhuast
    -KVR Front Breakpads, and Slotted Rotors
    -Full FMIC and Intake
    -Civic Short Throw Shifter and MX3 Shifter Bushing
    -A/C Delete (I wish the Previous Owner kept it )
    -HKS Turbo Timer
    -Digital Dash
    -GTX Seats
    -Kenwood Head Unit
    -Alarm
    -Escort Powered Moonroof Swapped
    -Autometer Boost/Air-Fuel Ratio Guages in Piller Pod
    -SlimFan Radiator Fan
    -Euro Headlights
    -HID Conversion
    -JDM Clear Corners


    Future plans include:
    -Full Engine Overhual using Forged Internals
    -LSD Transmission
    -VJ Turbo Upgrade to support 300HP
    -Ground Control Coilovers
    -Alloys all around
    -GTAe Bumper or IMark Front Bumper
    -CorkSport Exhuast system (Turbo Back)
    -Corksport FMIC
    -Aluminum Radiator
    -Full Inside Hub Break Upgrade
    -Fresh Paint
    -Megasquirt Stand-Alone Engine Management/Fuel Management
    -Electronic Boost Controller
    -MazdaSpeed engine/Transmission mounts
    -Act or Exeddy Clutch
    -Solid Swaybars

      from riding in it i'd guess about 4whp... ohhh!!!! burn!!!!

        I would have to guess in the 170hp or so, maybe a little more.

                          Yikes! its been too long. Heres an update including a start to now timeline.

                          Engine bay as when I got it for the esception of the CS strut bar.


                          Stock GT on the outside,



                          Interior with Guage pod, boost guage, Air/Fuel Ratio Guage, HKS TT, and Kenwood HU.


                          Stock manual, panel sunroof replaced and wired with powered glass moonroof.


                          A little genuine Mazda JDM Goodness...




                          Installed EDM glass headlights with JDM clear Corners, clear blinkers, relocated stock mount to front bumper (BackYard Mechanic Style!), and added an HID Kit to top it off.



                          Had more pictures of this install, dont know where they went. Anywho, best mod Ive done yet. Slowly replaced all those crapy couplers this kit came with, with silicon ones.


                          ...and realized that mounting wasnt sufficient, so I flipped it. Looks better eh?


                          Engine bay after FMIC install and repainted valve cover. Looks a little meaner...


                          Look Mah, I gotz Boost!


                          And as it sits at the moment. Had the hood off fixing connection problems and leaks benind the block, and thougt it looked pretty cool!


                          Ile take some new pics here shortly as of how it sits now. It will be changing alot though in the next month. The engine is tired and puking oil from the oil pump as of recently. Last compression check (about 7 months ago) showed 100PSI across the board, so I knew it was coming.

                          the engine out of my white GT project has since been sent over to the Engine builders to be completely rebuilt. Right now, after a long 3 weeks hunting for a new crank, I found one and things can continue. This new swap will include, New bearings, rings, crank, soft plugs, water pump, MazdaSpeed oil Pump, ARP headstuds, Cometic metal headgasket and a Cometic gasket kit, New HLA's, CS Adjustable Cam Gears, Gates Racing Timing belt, New Crank timing Gear and Key, Rebuilt Injectors, fully rebuilt Transmission with new CV axles, MazdaSpeed Racing Clutch kit, and a complete engine balance. This will be like a new car mechanicaly once finished and Im very excited. So Excited, I think ile go to bed here in a minute....
                          Anyways, I have been meaning to update this, and finally got around to it. I will take pics of the new engine and swap once I get to it.

                            Forgot to add, the car has since been dropped on Intrax springs, and 15" Rota's.
                            An HKS SSQV has given the Turbo XS BOV's a break (one RFL, and one Type H).
                            I have also gotten a Mazda genuine JDM GT badge to go next to the Familia badge on the Trunk.

                            Also, Comments and suggestions are encouraged.
