    WTFHaltech datalogging problem

Went to datalog a few pulls on the GT for another forum, and discovered a few interesting problems:

-When the program is online and reading the data, manifold pressure is read in psi. However, when looking over the recorded data, the manifold pressure is not only in kPa, it's now negative... did not touch any settings (nor can I seem to find a conversion setting)... wtf?

-On a fourth gear pull, at around 5k the tach needle started jumping around violently under boost (around 1bar). Datalog shows relatively even manifold pressure, WOT, and also logged the RPM bouncing. The weird thing is, I didn't let off right away (having had this problem in lower gears, I wanted to get a good log of it) and while the engine speed was supposedly bouncing around, the car was still accelerating hard, certainly harder than it would if it had hit a ~5200rpm limiter like the log is showing.

    Any ideas?

    whats your plug gap?

how old is the coil? can you put in a spare?

it sounds like an ignition related problem...

      Can check plug gap today.

Coil is from a 93. I think I have the original one from the car somewhere.

What I don't understand is why the tach and ECU are telling me that the engine is no longer accelerating but road speed was increasing...

its a signal problem obviously. i seem to recall mine doing this when i had spark blow out problems. could also be a distributor issue even

Any idea why it would change over on its own, and be negative? Converting from kPa to psi isn't really a big deal, but there's no reference point to start from.

The datalogger will always read in kPa, but you can change the maps to read in either kPa or psi (Setup->Program Setup).

The Haltech uses gauge pressure readings (versus absolute) so 0kPa=0psi, 101.3kPa=14.7psi, and -101.3kPa=-14.7psi (vacuum).

he was reading -19 at full boost and -91 at idle.

from what ifigured out, its reading the percentage of the sensors signal... 0v = -100, 5v = 0. he has a 3 bar map sensor so..... -91 = 27kpa (normal idle vac) and -19 = about 21psi of boost

Sorry, should have mentioned that I have an E6K.

Program setup gives me two options: display in colour/b&w, and choice of com ports. Still going through the options, but I'm not seeing anything that allows me to change it.

Looking at the datalogs, I'm showing a maximum pressure of -31 kPa, and a minimum of -98 on one run (2-3-4 pull) and -19 / -98 on the other (4th gear, 1880-5580 rpm)

98? that would only be 6 kpa by my calculation... which is REALLY low, even for high rpm off-throttle. idk what to tell ya.

Ah, E6K, I knew that. It's under Setup->Main Setup->Units. While you are there, make sure you selected the right map sensor. It sounds like you selected a 1bar sensor.

I caught a glimpse of the manifold pressure before one run, and it said 20 psi. I'll have to check what the gauge says for vacuum and compare it to what the E6K says on the engine data page at idle. Might give me a better idea of what the car's doing.

                          Ah, there it is.

I really hope I'm not that dumb, but it should be on a 3 bar. Can't check right now, because I've been going over the datalogs and it seems to default to a 1bar sensor when it's in offline mode.
