    svtfast BG build

I have owned and Escort since 99 and before that my mom did. That one blew in 2003 and that is where I picked a new escort. This one was a 94 Escort LX Sport which meant it had the 2D EGT body.

Years went by before I actually started on this. One day in the summer of 07 I spotted a 94 EGT in the Auto Craft center in Hanau Germany. $250 later is was mine. I drove it like hell back to my post in Darmstadt and got started.

I took out the motor and tranny and I got rid of the EGT body. The engine was completely disassembled so I could get to work. 300 Euros later a German machine shop had over bored the block for some Weisco pistons. A friend of mine bored out a GTR intake that I had bought and I shipped it off to Miata Roadster for extrude honing.

Now back in the states I found a machine shop in Alexandria LA. They are doing the rest of the machine work. They already checked the cylinder bores and they are good. Next up, line boring for my new main caps.

To make this easy this is what I have for the BP swap.
    BP motor
    BP tranny
    BP ECU
    BP engine wiring harness

    Wiesco Forged AL pistons 8.5:1
    ProGram Forged Billet main caps
    EDT Racing H beam rods
    ARP main cap studs

The block, crank, Pistons, caps, rods, and studs are at the machine shop now. I am getting the line boring done and I am getting the ETD rods machined so the wrist pins float. I am also having the whole thing balanced and the crank will get lightened a bit.

I need to buy more parts but I am waiting on the tab from the machine shop first. Shades MX3 thread inspired me to take on this massive job. Hard part so far is moving everything from Germany back to the states.

Pics after I get some sleep.
Block is almost done, cylinders are overboard for Weisco pistons, pro gram billet main caps have been line bored, and my chinese EDT rods have been machined to right specs. Everything has been balanced.

Sure do! The line boring will cost me about $200.

Revised hope-----400hp on massive Garrett turbo. Plan is too spool around 3k and move the redline to 9k or even 10k.

Crazy expensive yes. I got mine in April for about $80 less.

Oh yea, those Flyin Miata ones are not made for use with a MBSP or Main Bearing support plate. If you want that and use those you will need to have the caps taped and thread. Just buy the Miata Roadster ones even if you dont want to add it. You can always add it later if you get the Miata Roadster ones. You cant if you get Flyin Miata ones. Plus MR are made by Pro Gram "The main cap specialists"

I have to call the shop again tomarrow, hopefully I can get some good news. I really want to know the total cost though as I dont keep cash on hand all the time.

                  Uh, good luck with that.

Not only does the BP05 head not flow well enough for that kind of rpm to make sense (look at BP turbo dyno graphs, they ALL drop off by 7k), neither the HLAs nor the OP gears will survive at that engine speed.

It's not a Honda or a rotary, you don't need a million rpm to make power. A set of billet OP gears and a BP4W head should be enough with your other mods so you can go to ~7500 if you really want.

I seriously doubt you'll need those caps with 400hp. I've never heard of cap failure on a bp pushing any hp amount. Not trying to talk crap because I give you credit for a sweet build just pointing out that I've never seen that sort of failure.

I sort of do because my dumb ass threw away the oem caps on accident.

As for the 400hp. Why not. I havent decided on the specs for the head but the block will be built to support that. 30+ PSI too.

if you need any help with the tranny let me know. i think you'd be very disappointed in the car if you made 400whp on an open diff... heck my car was a waste of time below 65mph at 275hp.

you might want to check out the LSD group buy i'm doing right now

Cool I will look into it.

Hell my 335i doesnt have an LSD but it doesn have DTC Dynamic Traction Control.

With DTC off I loose traction every time I push in 1st. Bumps in the road do the same thing.

DTC and an LSD are two different things, and you would lose traction with the traction control off.
