    GI: BEGi Intake Manifolds

So, BEGi is redesigning their Miata intake manifolds.

I asked Stephanie if there was any possibility of getting some made for us "wrong wheel drive" guys, and she said that since it was not a casting, it was a definite possibility and she would pass it along to Tim and Corky.

At the very least, this would involve a changeover to a Miata TB.

There have not been any prices mentioned for the Miata guys, though when I find out I will update this post.

Is there any interest in this?

What kind of gains do you see from this?

i do not like the design for this manifold. also the air horns in the manifold are not places at the right height and the horns are not shaped for optimum flow. there a bit more things but this is just my 2cents.

this is what you want to see inside the manifold. the shape and distances of the air horns on this pic . i dont like the shape of the manifold in my pic but you get the idea.

Sigh, no solid details as of yet, I probably posted this too early- I was just wondering if there would be any interest other than my own.

I will update as I find out more.

Their short runner manifold was similar to that (with the exception of the plenum design), and provided gains of 20-30 hp, with the caveat that you had to be making at least 275whp to even bother, or you would lose power.

The new design is supposed to be geared towards a broader audience, not just the max power guys (hence targeting it at N/A Miata drivers as well).

As for the horn shapes, that may have more to do with the fact that this piece is still a prototype than anything.

What kind of price range are they talking? Also I think 13thghost's pic shows a beter design for sure. Reminds me of white95scort's.

No prices have been mentioned yet, as I said in the first post.

Re: design- no offense, but Corky Bell pretty much wrote the book on turbocharging. I'm willing to see what this can do before I make comments on "how I don't like how it looks."

As far as "looks" goes its fine. I'm more interested in the performance of the sloped design. Seems like you equal out the amount of air being forced into each cyl.

What would make this better than the GTX manifold?
I live my life a quarter pounder at a time. And for those 500 calories or more, I'm free. I need FRIES! Two of them. The big ones. Oh, and I need them tonight. You're lucky the double shot of BBQ sauce didn't blow the seam on your nugget box. There she is, 2 pounds of pure beef. My dad ate it in 9.0 seconds flat. Check it out, it's like this. If I lose, winner takes my happy meal. But if I win, I take the burger and the toy. To some people, that's more important.
