    corksport exhaust on mx3?

i was thinking since i already have it how much work it would be to get it to fit on the mx3

anyone have a mx3 service manual

it's a different exhaust system. the center is shorter, same with the tail pipe (after the rear subframe bend).

better off getting a trubendz 2.5" piping kit and making that fit. or 3"

i have been looking at advanced interchange list for the mx3 and a few parts from the exhaust fit both the protege and mx3 and some only fit the mx3 and 323

the only parts that i can see that do not fit the mx3 in the protege rear section

i have an escort pacesetter on my 323, the center section needs shortened alittle over an inch, but you can do that at the Cat end. the other issue it she rear section overhangs the bumper and the hangers by 3/4 of an inch.

luckly the pacesetter stuff is mild steel so i just cut it and welded it

if you are still dead set on using it (it is a good piece) I would do the following:

drop out your exhaust from the DP back

            hang the mid pipe

place your Cat assembly where is should go and mark how much you need to cut off

cut it and reweld the flange on so now the cat meets the mid pipe properly

hang the muffler and create new hangers to work with the muffler

cut off your rear tow hook or bend it

i would go with a regular steel or alum steel but i would hate to waste the money and have to replace it later

i have no choice but to replace the exhaust no converter just turbo straight back to the muffler cant get away with that here cops are pricks

I left my MX-3 @ CorkSport one day about a year ago so they could try to fit that exhaust on it.
They concluded that it wasn't feasible. They really tried, too. They said that it would be almost as much work as just building a custom exhaust.
