    oil pressure psi? on bp

    soi just installed and oil pressure gauge on my bp on the head next to distributor on one of those allan bolts that go on the side of the head abd in geting 28-30psi at idle and 38-40 at 3500 rpm is that about right heres a fwe pics


    and my new shift ball my buddy di it some of might know him as rioracer he sells these real pool balls for 20 taped to fit ready i choose #7

    yeah i sent the wrong pic this is where i hooked up the oil gauge too!!

      It's not the best idea to get oil pressure readings from the head in that they are lower than what you are seeing in the bottom end. The specs are set for the bottom end in the main gallery but your numbers seem good.

        yeah i just relized that i think ill put the sensor in the head and the pickup in the block

          When I bought my car it had a oil psi gauge tapped there as well. Thought the oil pump was bad and replaced that with no change . Found out That the proper reading is where Lex said. Oil psi is now fine. Costs alot to make small mistakes lol.

            when you moved the sending unit did you keep the stock one as well ? use a "t" fitting or did you just loose the stock one ?

              well i kept the stock one there but over night i drove it today it goes up very slow to 20psi then just basicly stays there so idisconnected it at gauge started car bleed air out still not responsive so idisconected at head and started car and it squirted good ,no kinks in line fearls not crimping still not the pressure i had last night last night it responded pretty good now it goes from 0 with engine off and 20 running no matter what rpm and yes engine has oil in it .lol

                ok so i figureed it out when the engine is cold the gauge reads perfect as soon as it warms up it stays bettween 18-20 psi the hotter the engine gets the lower the pressure drops at start up it will go to 45 at red line when the engine is 180 it wont go past 20 any suggestions guys is this because my oil feed being in the head instead of the block ?

                    ok i saw that but i dont know i think i was just hoping for a simple explanation that i could easily fix with out removing that intake maniflod support braket in front of the starter.

                      that bracket has like 2 bolts and one nut, whats the big deal? lol

                          done ! i put the stock oil sending unit in the haed and my gauge pick up in the block where the stock one went i get 36 psi at idle and 48 at 5000 rpm . and i ran the car to 180 deg and it still woked fine .done !!!
