    Front a-arms

According to the online (cheap) parts stores, the 2wd and 4wd front a-arms are the same. Is this true? I know the earlier GTXs had shorter arms than the 2wd 323s.

i heard you can take the 2wd ones and redrill them slightly for the ball joint holes to fit to the 4wd. Never done it myself though.

Are you talking about the GTX or the Protege. After rereading what I wrote, I realize, I forgot to mention the car in question was the 4wd Protege.

I haven't found an actual number/distance the holes would have to be lengthened. Any ideas?

It might be helpful for people in the future to have a specific dimension. For me, I'll just have to figure it out for myself, since it's my daily driver. From having the car realigned on Mon., I know that the side with the standard arm has 1.3 more degrees of negative camber. Sounds like it's not much, maybe .06" to .10" at the most. If I was into better handeling, I would swap out the other side as well. But, with the lowered springs, that would be -3.5 degrees, a lot for a car driven on the street...

You did read what you wrote right..? "Crash" is what I already did, I don't need bolt named after the incident... LOL
I'll get it adjusted by other means, changing the rotation of the top hat, loosening the clevis bolts and pulling the hub out as much as possible, etc...

So wait, what did you do exactly? Put an AWD control arm in your 2wd escort?

My 4wd is currently sitting on jackstands with the wheels off. And I have spare fwd arms laying around the shop. I will compare the differences. I know the knuckle, crossmember, and rack-n-pinion are different on the 4wd when compaired to the fwd

I'm reasonably certain he's talking about eccentric camber adjusting bolts.
