Turbo for the 90-94 DOHC engine

Yo, I gotta friend with a 2000 Ford Escort, and he's been talking about swapping the engine out of my old 93 pro. He was wanting to know what turbo kits are made for the engine, and how much, and if someone can get me some links for him to look up stuff. Thanks

theres no turbo kits made for the car. You either have to piece it together, using custom made or GTR/X parts, or just buy the whole gtr or gtx engine. I think theres a company "thinking" about making a turbo kit for the 1st gens.....but we dont get that much love so it may not be happening very soon.

the BP came turbo'd in europe in 88-94 iirc. they were called the 323 GTX, ther is a rarer engine known as the GTR.

i would suggest e-bay, look up "mazda front clip". you are looking for a BPT

Seems like it would be a pain in the ass to swap a BP-t into an Escort that wasn't designed to have it. Its not a 90-96 E-GT or E-LX we're talking about.

kinda like swapping a 350 into an rx7, or a 350 into a miata, it can be done but will cost, and take some fabricating.

it should swap right into a 95 probe GT tho, right? I was told it should bolt right up. sorry for sounding like an idiot, I've not worked with protege stuff in a long time.

88 would have still been the BF chassis GTX....that won't do him anygood.
