    power window and lock swap

well i might be getting the canadian protege gt interior, door panels and seats,
i want to do the power locks and windows swap,
can anyone help out with this, is it just like a regular protege swap or diffrent cause of the awd factor.
i would think it should be the same, and the window motors ect, should work?
    any help would be appreciated.
here is a link to a guy that did it with a euro bg, this might help, if anyone has done this swap in a AWD to comopare to a fwd.

    doors are the same

you need to reuse the AWD front seat rails

the rear seat will not work. the seat bottom is thinner on the awd and the seat back is shorter.

I just used the enite interior harness from my old LX and swapped over the electric windows and door locks that bolted diectly in. The rears I left as a manual window like the neon srt4. I was lazy and didnt want to wire and swap the rear doors. I also now have functional power mirrors.

You'll need to swap the main harness under the dash as there is no provision for power locks/windows. The rest is plug and play.

i dont have pics but i did try to put an LX seat in my AWD.

the seat bottom you can shave foam off until it fits, but the seat back is like 1-1.5" too tall. the latches dont line up... it sticks up above the rear deck and looks stupid.. etc.

You need to reupholster the rear backs, very easy to do and will take about an hour. For the bottom, you need to reupholster the seat as well by removing the metal clip around the cushion. Just to warn you, the LX upholstry won't cover the 4WD cushion and you will have piece of cushion sticking out by the doors.

all good information... guess i should have asked a LONG time ago

I have an LX parts car and my 4wd will be getting all the doors (none of this swapping just the parts and wiring them). The full interior harness, and whatever interior i can get to work, I knew the butt pad needed work but i didnt realize the backs were different too... oh well it will just give me another project.

Im the most bummed because i stupidly didnt even calculate the fact the floor pan is quite a bit different so my to swap the carpet is also fubar, and i trashed the stocker... hopefully i can find one somewhere, oh well I will figure something out.

I bought an aftermarket black carpet for the 323 just to cut it all out and find that it fits like ass. I was lucky to have the original one though that I pressure washed and put it back in.

To make power rear windows in addition to swaping wiring from lx protege you have to swap rear windows glass. The conection from regolator to glass is differnt.

for me, I am ridding my poor 4wd of the ugly blue interior, so saving it is not really an option, I would rather go with no carpet than put my ugly blue carpet back in with my nice grey black 92 lx interior.

btw... I am swapping dashes too, my problem comes with the vin in the windshield. In my escort it wasnt a problem because the vin was riveted to a black piece so no matter what dash I went with I could reuse my old piece with the vin on it. In this though the vin is on a blue piece that will NOT go back in the car... is it that big of a deal? is there somewhere or some way i can rivet the correct tag on my black piece?

as for the power lock and window swap, just throwing this out there,,
if i had all the oem wiring for each door and ran all that the stock way and were it would plug into the plug at the lower interior fuse box, IE the way you could do the swap it in a DX,
couldn't i just get power and ground to them to make them work, so i would not have to pull the whole interior hanress from a LX.
also does anyone have the wiring diagram for the power lock and windows?

My carpet is light gray so it's not that bad. I did a dash swap, I have a GT AWD. For the vin, Just rip it off and attach it to your new dash with long slim bolts. As long as the numbers match your B pillar, you're good.

You need to bring the wires to the fuse box, out from the fuse box to the passenger side front door, to the timer relay and some other crap here and there. The 4WD doesn't have any wires under the dash for that. I tried at first but it was just a mess so I got a whole GT harness, way simpler that way.
