So Mon morning im on my way to go pick up my escort Gt parts car going to be doing the BP swap into my protege and also rebuilding the GT brakes for the protege. will be ripping it apart this week and hopefully have the shell gone by wed/thur, using some misc parts to make my old protege that i smashed road worthy again so i can drive it for winter I haven't posted much here lately becasue of a busy summer, in sept i smashed my first one and the following day i purchased another green 94 DX from NEVADA with 117 XXX miles and 2500 in new parts for a grand ( rubbing it in to northern guys) and switched everything over. In my opinion it was good luck to have smashed my old one lol. Anyways this will be my project thread i guess, so heres my pro now, will have picks of EGT Mon

Well got the Gt and started ripping into it, got most the front sheetmetal off and the seats and belts out (need that stuff to fix winter beater) tomoro night i should have the front subframe out aswell as the rear and gas tank.
Did a compression test and got 120-123-122-120 dry and wet was 170-172-173-170, so i guess the rings are pretty worn so my plan is to use the SOHC block, crank, and rods out of my car now because it only has 180 XX miles and runs great. Then get some miata pistons and top it off with the DOHC head obviously, What do you guys think?1993 Protege GT

dont worry about those compression numbers. that looks like a VERY strong engine to me... your supposed to do the compression test on at the very least a warm engine so all the clearances can be filled with the expanding metal. the fact they are all so close in compression is a good sign! Im not saying there are no problems with it but my money would be on the fact you wont be dissatisfied with it!
I just did a compression test on an 04 civic in my class and it was pulling 135 psi cold on a motor with no more than like 5k miles on it.There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

Will be N/A for now, gotta sort out my parts and get my winter car together then when i have everything organized i will finalize what im doing with the motor, most likely sohc crank miata pistons ect. i have all winter ( till like April) so i got time to do it right. today i got the escort stripped completely, took 9 hours total
escorts goin to scrap tomorow. going to where my smashed car is tomorow after school to put struts, headlights, and tank from escort in to try and drive it home and fix it. Then after thats all together the project car is comming into the garage for the winter and getting stripped wish me luck, will have update tomorow if i get the winter car home1993 Protege GT
