Custom Fabircation/Any Mech work in Toronto

Since my car is almost built up the guys are running low on projects....so if anyone in the Toronto area needs some really good work done at very fair prices give me a shout.

The shop builds cars for the movie industry, and the specalize in building the cars used in stunts..... so they can build a pretty strong cage! They also bult most of the cars for "Canada's Worst Driver" and you can imagine how much abuse those cars saw. If you really want more info about everything they have done shoot me an e mail and I can send some pics.

They are also mechanics...so any stuff like brakes, suspention, fuel lines, brake lines and etc... are no issue.

The bonus is that they know the BF chassis VERY well because of my car. They also have worked on a few protege's (1st and 3rd gen), Mazda 3's and if you have a Mustang they will love you!!

Pm for any questions. The shop is located in Etobicoke in the Kipling and QEW area.

I'd like to get a run of BF GTX lower tie bars made.

DOM tube or ChroMo tube would work with Mig welds.

I've drawn up an example quickly in Solidworks.

The lower control arm mounting locations are sorta floating out there willy nilly. This brace would help tie the front end together as well as providing a solid support for a skid plate mount or a further design to tie into the front core support similiar to the saab skidplate below.

I'll show it to my guys tomorrow and see what they say. We are just about to get underway with building my skidplate so it's good timing.

        Anyone else intrested?

What alloy of aluminum are you going to use for your skid plate?

You should use 5083 or 5086 if you can find it. It's used in armor plating in TANKS! But mostly used to make aluminum boats

5052 is my next favorite alternative for its cost and benefits and 6061 is also really strong, just sorta spendy..

as in 4'x4' sheet .250 thickness
          5052-H32 $126
          6061-T6 $212

Using the flat stock will probably help ground clearance which is a definate issue and would make mounting a skid plate a snap as no tabs need to be welded on. Just drill and tap.
But round tube would work just as well and probably easier to bend.

I don't want an aluminum one, too pricey and hard to repair.

Make sure it clears the cross member but not too much bend or you'll kill the ground clearance.

A little off topic, but I recognize the Mazda3 and the driveway in your GTX signature pics.

I happen to own your old MX3 seats that I picked up with another member back in September.
I peered out from the castle window and looked over the splendor of ROTM county. Yes, twas' a much simpler time back then. Peasants would go about their postings, and I, the mod, would rule over them with an iron fist.

That's me! Those seats are looking good, hopefully I will have some pics of the finished GTX Rally x car up soon for anyone who's been following the build. I also met up with Luke and he says he knows you.

UPDATE on the custom bar (pikespeakgtx)

We did some measuring and mocked it somewhat in place. It is do able, and we are going to make one for my car and then take orders (we won't know pice until it's done either!)

To make this economically viable we're hoping to make a run of at least 5

Also any other parts for people intrested let me know. We are thinking about making a front strut tower brace, as well as a light bar mount in the front.

A light bar mount would be cool too.

                    I'd buy one of each.

Are you going to put skidplate mounting locations on the lower tie bar?

Probably not unless you can give specific measurements. For my skid plate we are just going to run some flat metal strips and aluminum.

Light bar bracket will be made to weld onto the metal part of the bumper support. Made to fit a lightbar with 4 lights in a row.

I will get more pics up when progress is made. Anyone wlse intrested should indicate intrest.

                      Cheers

what about custom axle work? I could use some shortened axles.

They can do it, but right now we are going to stick to making the lower tie bar and light bar and seel them to see if it's economically viable.

Anyone have different ideas for BF parts?

It looks like we're also going to make 2 skid plates (one for me and one for a buddy) so anyone local or feels like a drive I will have skid plates available too.
