Oil line loop?

    Oil line loop?

    I've searched around a bit and found nothing on the subject.
    This engine I picked up a while ago has this oil line loop that goes from the oil cooler to the front cover near the crank pulley.





    Whats the reasoning for this?

    thats not the front cover, thats the oil pump

      lol alright, I knew that. Any idea what the purpose of it feeding oil to the oil cooler is? Is it supposed to be better? Provide more oil somewhere?

        Seems like it's adding another path for the oil that bypasses the filter ... To increase oil pressure?

          That's odd. I don't see any reason for that to be there.
          '90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and

            Yeah that's the only reasoning I could come up with... you mean you don't wanna filter out any chunks in case you run then through your bearings?... lol.
