    Mazda vs Honda

Anyone ever watch super 2nr tv?? Awhile ago they had a nissan vs honda competition. We should call em up and have a nmazda vs honda competition. That'd be fun as ****. The hondas did really well tho. But i think our mazdas can take em? Anyone else think this would be cool?
    Eat ****.

It would be cool, but there aren't enough protege owners that have the mods to make us competitive enough.

good idea.... probably not, we'd need alot more guys with extreme mods to their cars (not just cai, exhaust, header....etc) the nissan guys brought out some of the better cars (not the best in the community) and the race was close, but these honda guys were not screwing around. But considering 90% of the honda cars were trailer queens, and all but one of the nissans were driven there, that shows alot.

but imo, we wouldnt keep up.

Sadly I agree. We just don't have the amount of mazda dragsters. Maybe the miata guys with 350s and such. hell let's take em on the corners!

the only way i could possibly see this happening is with out the protege... its just not a good competitor compared to these built B, H and K series hondas.... all of which are outstanding track motors, and easy to build.... this is not true with any motors that can be used in the protege (BP dis regraded). Anyways, back to what i was saying..... If it were the s2000 guys vs. the RX7 and miata guys it would be fair.... for us atleast

Thank you Jon!!! I can think of 2 1st gens (both here from NJ) and soon a 3rd from CT that could hold their own in the testing. I think 2 Protege LX's with GTR swaps and a Protege LX with a T3-T4 powered GTX could hold their own against the Honda guys.

you gotta remember this though, most of these hondas were built with one thing in mind, track use..... alot of the turbo se-r guys thought they would be fine, but they were overheating, and having problems all day.... only the all motor and VVL guys were goin all out all the time.

i dunno, i just dont see this happening either way... plus there is no way there is enough intrest imo.

having tourqe doesnt always assist you, traction is key on a circuit track, and keeping a nicely tuned honda motor over 6k is easy, **** a lightly modified type-r motor in a CX model hatch with 2k in suspension is a track monster, and thats 8k for the car completed!!, running great straight line times and tearing up a track. straight line? take that same CX hatch, add h22, built h23 with h22 head and your in the 11's, boost it or juice it for tens. its been done, reliably, back to track, take a b20 or b18b non-VTEC with a VTEC b series head (b16a, or b16b for boost,or the b18c, c1, or c5 for all motor) and your getting killer quarter mile times and still having a light car prepared for the track.

again, the majority of the honda owners out there finish their cars with a kit, intake, exhaust and act like they have a drag car, but a HUGE amount of them spend tons of cash on building bulletproof 1.8 or 2.0 non VTEC bottom ends, along with a head thats built to make power over 9k!

VTEC hondas lack tourqe, there are tons of ways to get it, and people know how

i love the se-rs, and the sr20's are a beautiful motor

i just dont like massive power to a FWD, then it becomes a search for traction and you give up the handling characteristics you once had.

i love the way my honda felt the day i got it, handled great, now its quick and handles even better :D

                            he drives a honda...

But I do agree with him, its just we have a couple guys that would give em comp. We have tons of rx7 guys, but thats pretty unfair. We have some miata guys, I wouln't really count the protege or escorts guys because the numbers are so small. If we had MORE enthusiasts that are seriosuly into the sport, we could be comp, but honestly Honda is just doing better at it, with out question. They put out fast reliable cars, if you cant afford the whole car, get a cheap economy honda use the upper class honda parts (that always swap :/) and make it a track car. I can't think of many companys that can give honda much comp, probably some domestics, but many of them are in totally different classes.

                              DORIFTO!!!

wait, yes i could imagine seeing that, and i love it!!
