    Oil Coolers

Anybody ever install/add an oil cooler to the car? What did you get? where did you put it? How satisfied were you with it? would might you do differently next time?

I did. Used an FM thermostat at the filter, ran -8 SS lines to the front and mounted it beside the passenger headlight. No noticeable drop in pressure. and the engine stays a lot cooler with it (180ish versus mid 195 degrees)

How big of an oil cooler did you end up getting and installing? How many rows?

You know, I've been checking ebay to learn about the different shapes and sizes and I sort of like the transmission cooler design better. Are those safe to use? Will they handle the pressure? Eh, I might be able to figure something out.... I'm going to have to grab some beer, open the hood and start using my imagination.....

Nice braided lines. With all that extra hose, you don't have an issue with flow? when you change the oil is it easy to drain all of your old oil or does some get trapped? I guess that's one of my concerns as I try to think about where I want to mount mine on the frame and at what height. thanks for the pics and the info. Much appreciated. I am GOING to get one. it's a matter of what size, where to put it and how to run lines to and from it. I have A/C which makes things a little cramped up front along with my FMIC set-up. I run 5W-30 which is thin enough that I'm not too worried about over-burdening the oil pump. We'll see. Thx again.

ive been thinking about going with a larger water cooled unit. they are expensive and kind of hard to find, though.

Are you talking about a water cooled unit similar to the stock one on the B6T or something different?

well the BP and BPT have a stock water cooled one too. i'm talking an external one.... they are like a small air to water intercooler, except they cool oil. let me look for a pic....

Are these proven to be more efficient than the conventional type? If not, what is the benefit?
