What to do with my new GTX

I just picked up a "new" GTX. Perfect shape, zero rust, completely stock with working AC, 115,000 miles, original exhaust.

I want to up the power some yet I want it to remain very driveable. No sputtering or cutout. Just want to push on the gas and go. Maybe an additional 30HP or so. It also has a stock clutch so I'd rather not swap that out yet, I do have a brand new ACT street clutch for it. So power level can't be too much for that stock clutch.

I have access to a guy who can do a custom 2.5" exhaust. And there is a g-force ecu for sale. I have an MX-6 intercooler and a bosch BOV sitting in the garage.

What suggestions do you all have. ECU, boost controller (dual stage?), turbo, etc.......

For an additional 20-30hp all u gotta do is add a cone filter, bigger exaust(anything larger then stock), and get a boost controler, turn it up to 10-11lbs. Don't go any higher on the stock ECU.

I had the rocketman ecu, intake, exhaust, and a wideband A/F gauge monitering mine. Also I was trying to explode it so I would have a reason to swap the BP I was allready building

              It's a GTX, the vj14 is stock.

Trailrider is right. 30hp is pretty easy to achieve. Exhaust, boost control (especially since the bigger exhaust will bump the boost already), and open up the intake a little. The mx6/probe/626 intercooler will help too. Run 10-11psi too, or get and upgraded ecu and run 15-16psi. These cars are choked... just letting them breath gets you a bunch more ponies.

I'm waiting on my chipped ecu, a dual stage boost controller and the exhaust items to arrive. I also have the mx-6 intercooler that will go in.

In a week or so I'll get my friend who owns a shop do the exhaust, still waiting on my high flow cat to arrive.

just be gental with the launches, or butter yet, just dont launch it. A blown tranny on a BFMR = very expensive if u can find a new one, if not expect to start moddifing things to fit a JDM 1.8 tranny

I've always been good on transmissions. I have a BP in my festiva using the stock festiva trans and no problems yet.

I plan on just a mild improvement, 30 or so HP. I won't go crazy with the boost. Maybe 12 or so psi. Hard launches will be a rarity. But I do have a spare trans and brand new ACT clutch sitting in the garage.

You have an original GTX with AC and FACTORY EXHAUST? and you're going to hack it up!?

                          For shame.

Wow, I know... sounds crazy, huh? But, then again, it's his car. It's 20 years old (if not older). And, come to think of it, I did that to my GT and I am sooooo glad that I did it. I love my car the way it is.... now. It's tons better. So, if you're going to do it, take lots of pics of the progress to document the transformation. Have fun whatever you do!!!!

The original exhaust will be saved and stored in the basement. Anything I do to the car will be able to be put back to the original condition.

So new exhaust, chipped ecu, boost controller, boost gauge and an mx-6 intercooler. All else stock. Something very nice and fun to drive.

                              Here's the car:
