    GTX Rear struts?

Where can you find replacement struts for the GTX? Or is there another strut from a different car that will work? I've heard of first gen 626/mx-6/probe rears working, anyone confirm this?

I have a second gen probe gt and a mx6 strut in my garage I can compare measurements to. Measure up yours and I'll go measure mine when I get home

I don't know if I will be able to get around to them tonight. Someone on the 323-GTX mailing list said rear 626 struts will fit. Thoughts?

I ended up using the first gen struts, I had to file the **** out of them and use washers as spacers. All said and done they worked but the strut body was too close to the wheel, I had to use 3/16" wheel spacers. The bolt spacing was off by about a half inch.

also had to file out the tophats to get the strut tube to fit into it.

I think there are probably better options out there but I got these cheap

First-gen 626? Or first gen 323? And did you use the same ones for front + rear?

First gen 626 struts. I did an AWD conversion I was able to retain stock front struts, just needed something for the rear

What kind of wheel spacers? Something between the axle and hub or something? Trying to visualize this...

Are you using stock GTX rims or something else?

I'm reading conflicting information on the web about rear struts.

According to rockauto, the 71889s should fit the back.

This link would also seem to indicate that.

But if you go to Monroe's online catalog and search out the 1988 323 w/all wheel drive, it only comes up with fronts.

^^^this is correct. however because the 626/mx6 isso much taller DO NOT expect to have a low or even stock ride hieght. i had a set of MX6 koni's with ground control coilovers, they did fit and bolt right in however i had to set the coils all the way up so that the strut wasnt bottomed out and this was a 1" raise in ride hieght

Matt...I have some Dirtras that will accept Bilstein inserts..perches are taken off and they are powder coated but will need coilovers.

has anybody ever tried to run the fronts on the back? the rears are about 2" shorter then the fronts, however a coilover kit would be able to correct this right? i know there would be 2" more effective travel in the back, would this affect much?

                            any thoughts?

Rears on all bf and bg chassis are taller then the front struts of the same car
