    N/A ECU w/ SAFC & 550cc????

Anyone have 1st hand knowledge of anyone using a BP10 ECU with a SAFC, or SAFC II unit and using some sort of 550cc injectors??? I only found 1 account here on the forum but it sounded like the guy really didn't know what he was talking about.....

The 460cc's ran out and I really don't want to have to get a standalone to get to 300whp!!!

If you can't play with the timing, I wouldn't go there, there is way too much timing with the NA ecu, you want about 10 deg less advance at high boost levels. With a VJ20 and 460s, it works and I know of people running that setup but it's pig rich under boost and far from 300 whp

sounds like a very unsafe idea to me...

with good management on a stock motor you would be putting your bottom end at risk. with shady management like this, even on a built motor, you'd be putting it at risk. i dont know what sort of bottom end you are working with, but i'm assuming you dont want to kill it...

As mentioned - this is likely not the best idea. If you are pushing 300whp I'd say a standalone is worth more than a replacement engine. If you got a hold of a GTR ECU you may be able to pull it off because the ECU is already calibrated for 460cc injectors and has appropriate timing.

Well, you asked, we answered. Even with the GTR ecu which is mapped for boost, guys here got pinging at very high boost levels, showing that even the stock turbo ecus have a limit. It's good for roughly 280 awhp but not more and the GTR blew up due to pinging. From this, it's up to you to decide what you do, it's not our car...

yeah I know, you don't have to convince me of that. I am getting some 550cc's here soon, so I guess we will see...

i had a safc w/ rx7 550's before i went greddy e-manage, then to megasquirt. If you have a wideband then its worth a shot, just tune afrs a bit richer to compensate for the lag piggybacks have. Good luck, Peace

i ran 550 with the stock n/a ecu and a safc neo. it ran really rich while not boosting and still rich while in boost. i have a t3/t4 set up and under 4000 there is very little boost so if i where to floor it while not boosting i would start misfiring from being so rich and i was maxed out on the safc.

i personally never ran 550's without a standalone, but i do have a t3/t4 power egt with a gtx ecu safc2 and 460cc injectors, and i went a zeroed out all the values to just see how it would run and the car ran great and 10-12 psi and afr were good on the wb too.

also there were some guys in florida a few years ago that ran big turbos with high boost, big(iirc 550's) injectors, big fuel pump(probably just 255lph),adjustable FPR ,na ecu and just tuned the stock air meter on a n/a motor and put down some nice numbers and pounded the cars pretty hard.
i will try to find the old posts about them and link it, after i finish typing.
