    Turbo'd Pro's?

How much power are pro's running at the wheel with a turbo and at how much boost? I'm talking about a 2002 2.0 LX specifically.

2.0 LX ,,, mazda speed or stock ..

most I have seen someone pull off with a MSP is about 260 or so .. if I am not mistaken ..
no turbo upgrade, just upped the boost and tuned it and then sold the car.

this would be a pretty boring board if no one modified them.

Alot of people mod Proteges, just not every day you see one farting down the interstate or in magazines. Over all though, a good portion of people do mod their proteges. I never knew MSP's can do 260 AT THE WHEEL by just turning up the boost. What size turbo they got?

                  Are you Serious.
You do know that people mod, Kia's (yes kia's) and daewoo's ( shoot even Corolla's) ... There is a dang site out for Corolla's that I bumped into a while ago. People pretty much mod anything that can roll.

But anyhow. Yeah we mod out Protege's .. It all started back in 1998 for me . I got my red Protege in my sig in 1997. I bumped into www.corksport.com one day while steeling bandwith at this job I used to work with. I saw the Jspec Version of my car (familia) and called them up, started asking questions and got reffered to the Egroups.
Basically called Protege tech Egroups (can be found on yahoo groups).
Then a guy named Hunter started a website Protegetech.com .. He also had a 2nd gen like mine but silver and a ES (1.8L BP)...

A while after Protegeclub.com was started ,, we fenagles there , then wihandyman.com and here we are.

None the less.. We love the basic concept of modding a car, no matter what car it is. I can also see you share that same love, which is why you post on this board. Guys like you we lobe to have you aboard.

As for power, Yeah the 3rd gens can make good power. It's just as with any car you have to watch your tunning .
I just know that the internals on the 3rd gen FS motors are no where as strong as the 1st and 2nd gen BP motors ... .or even the B6T ...

Jesse knows a crap load about that ordeal ..

                  Bruce

i'm yet to SEE a turboed 3rd gen (beyond the MSP) - but i've only just recently been interested in modding.
but from what i've seen online, the hiboost system claims lots... they say 231.. i'm sure with some more/proper tuning that would go up a bit more.

that's with 8psi, too... our cars can handle 12psi...

At this point with my Protege. I want to get 200 hp out of the vj20 ...
I just want to get tunning and proper boosting techniques under my belt and make sure I have a good understanding for what I am doing, and the effects of what I am doing.
Then I will go for 250 hp then 300 ...

200hp out of the vj-20 is easy. Running 15 psi is just a tad over 200whp, all depending on what other mods you got going. I'm into that 300+ hp though too, I want 300whp and hoping the IHI t3/4 from Corksport will do that for me this summer. Unless I can find a vj-23 for a good price...
