Feelers for a bulk buy of Aussy bumpers

I didn't want to hijack bf323gtx's build thread so I'm starting this one.

The purpose here is to see several things:

    1. How much interest there is in getting sets (f/r) of short Australian bumpers shipped in bulk to the states.

    2. Figure out what is needed to do the full conversion, if its just cover and foam, cool. If its the metal subassembly too this may be off, or come up with a way to hack and reweld to fit.

    3. What kind of price we can get as individuals or as a group shipped. Perhaps find a distributor in Aussy land that wants to do business like that.

    4. If everything looks good lets get the word out and get a crate of these things shipped. We would need a reputable volunteer to act as a distributor for the shipment and ship them to all the participants. Probably have to be in cali or on the coast. Idaho has no ship ports. If there's a states side importer this may be easier.

pipe dream yes but I know I'm not the only one tokin....

seems to be some interest so..

Next weekend i'm going to the junk yard for pictures of US 323/tracer bumpers and their guts. Unless someone else already has them.

bf323gtx, if you could do the same we can compare the assemblies to figure out what we need pulled and shipped.

Does anyone know of a importer, shipper, have had anything like this imported and have a rough cost to do it? Sorry to tag you again, bf323gtx, but if you know or have friends who know of a company that ships to the US all the time that'd be cool. A long long time ago I partook in superpro bulk buy for my mx6 GT, so perhaps I'll shoot an email to 185performance.com and see if they know of anything.

A lot of leg work to do so don't any of yous get your hopes up

I know I have a gt front cover but im not shure that I kept the absorber and reinforcement. I also have the gt rear cover and absorber but the reinforcement was trashed.

excellent, nice to see the support coming out.

I had a thought that there has to be part numbers for replacement bumper parts of the Australian flavor. Perhaps some of these online parts shops can help and usually bumper covers are cheap. Not to mention it would be nice to get new. I'll start surfing to see what turns up.

looks like its a two piece construction

just need to find out the bracketing required to mount. This may be the tricky part.

here's the link for the above images.

Though bf323gtx's appears to be one piece and has a different upper (if it is an upper). I'll keep looking.

hmm that looks more like our non turbo bumper than bf323gtx's. On that site it lists a cover for a deluxe wide bar but doesn't have a pic. That could be it.

hey mod's why is this in the group buy section its a feeler, not an actual event? Its purely informational, if something actually comes of this I will post appropriately.
                        thanks

Ok so I asked my friend and he said that you need the bumper support along with the bumper cover in order for it to work

never made it to the junk yard, spent the whole weekend (3 days) refinishing the deck. What a fiasco that was.

Anyway, I'm still hunting for aussy side parts distributors to get a quote for new bumper covers and supports as well as used items. Would also like to get oem part numbers for all the necessary hardware if possible.

found this no pics though. they say the part numbers are the oem ones.

if we can't find new ones we might be able to get used ones from here
