Just joined the club blew the diff at the track.

Well the car was running awsome all night long first time haveing drag radials on the car at the track.

    Best run was 8.58 @ 87mph in 1/8mile had a 2.1 60ft
My buddy took a video im waiting for him to send it to me.
    also ran 8.59
    and 8.60 back to back

On the last run i could have possibly made they where shutting the track down after my run. I pull up through the water and start my burn out i wanted to get them really hot for the last run. i went just a little too long one tie grbed before the other i heared a loud bang when it happend then the car reved up hit rev limiter so i shut it down. got out and there was no fluid on the ground the axles where intacked but i found peced of spider gear and some case material. i popped the hood there is a spider gear sticking through the case right next to the speedo gear. towed it home and today i went and picked up another transaxle out of the salvage yard for $75. pulling it out tommoro to swap the trans and will dissassemble the old one soon and post pics.

I need to buy the mfactory diff but that will come in about 4 months when im back form college.

hopefully i will have the videos in a day or two of my runs down the track.

Good times at the track but it sucks about the diff. Was it an open diff?

must've been. be thankful it went up instead of leaving a horrible mess under your car everywhere.

      sucks tho. i've been there

when I ran slicks at the track I didnt notice any difference in 60' times with a long or short burnout. really all your doing is frying expensive tires. I didnt even use the parking brake by the end of the night, i would just dump the clutch out of the burnout box and ride it out till they grabbed.

        never used drag radials though...

Yeah just a stock 93 escort gt trans.

Cant wait to get an lsd in one.

I did not have a trans but pulled one yesterday only cost me $75.

I cleaned it up yesterday. Then put it in after work today works perfict for now anyways. lol hopfully it last a little while im useing the 2 blown up ones i have to make a spare one needs a diff and case the other needs third gear sincro should have one good one here in a few days. The current trans came out of a 185,000 mile wrecked escort gt. still shifts smooth as butter. Im happy 3 days later and cars back on the road. Will post pics and video as soon as i have them.

All together the car ran pretty strong after i got tire pressure and launch rpm figured out. 3200rpm launch. 16 psi in the tires i was on bfgoodrich dragradials size 225/50/15. Hooked pretty well.

a lot of tracks are only 1/8 mile... requires a LOT less land/money to build and maintain. if its all that's around...

i've raced 1/8 mile once - it was so windy one day that they forced us to. it wasn't quite as exciting but you still get lots of good practice in, the only thing you miss out on practice-wise is the 3-4 shift. who ever screws that shift up anyway?

Yeah the 1/8 mile track is only 5 min from my house closest 1/4mile is 4 hours away. Thats why i took it to the 1/8 mile just to see what it could do. trust me i would rather run 1/4 but until i have a good trans or a tralier i dont want to go that far away and break the car.

If you know how to take the trans apart have the dif pin welded on both sides( if it goes out the other side cant remember) and have the ring gear welded also. Holds us so much better i've been told

the spider gears still break, i never blew the diff pin or anything but i eventually stripped about half the teeth off of both spider gears...

With an open diff there's no point in big burn outs. You spin one tire and till its hot and sticky, then when you launch all the power goes to the tire with less traction anyway.

I just dump the clutch and ride it out like suggested earlier.

Yeah the car was back on the road last monday with another stock egt transaxle im going to buy the m factory diff and use my two blown trannys and make a good one with lsd.

When i did my burnouts it spun both tires every time they both had smoke comeing off them. Then it hooked and went off the line. Just could not hold the power the car is makeing. Thinking about putting it back on the dyno to see what the power is.

The diff pin is right where its supposed to be i just broke the differential it self and the spider gears broke into bits and one went through the case.

New tranny is holding good so far have done multiple launches on the street hooking up fine.
