    G Type Transmission rebuild. HELP!!!

Well, Im breaking into my spare G type tranny to rebuild and throw in my car so I have a nice new working tranny when I put my new motor in. I started to take parts of the case off and started getting a little intimidated. Is it really hard to do? I have an FSM, but that alone is in almost a different language. Anything I should watch out for? Any tips or tricks? Help is greatly appreciated.

this explains it pretty well in laymans terms as far as basic disassembly. if you are doing synchros and bearings etc you will need a shop press, snap ring pliers, etc to take things the rest of the way apart.

Its pretty simple really. Though I didn't do any of the sycros, just popped the case open to get a stuck axle out. When going back together make sure you get the reverse idler shaft lined up with the bolt hole that is in the case. I put mine together and realized it wasn't lined up and had to take it back apart.

Make sure you keep the bearings in order, you don't want to mix up the races, yes the outer race separates and they will fall out of the case halves and get mixed up. Mark em, tape over to keep from falling out or take the races out and leave on the rollers.

Be diligent with the silicone so you don't fight leaks on the case.

Test shift into all gears once the case is together.

On a side note, anyone know if there is anything in a mx6GT G-type tranny that could be used in a 323 G-type? I have one with a bad third syncro laying around.
