    Discussion: MS Setting Accel Enrichments

Getting these settings right has taken priority for me as getting this fine tuned will be one of the finishing touches to my tune. I'd like to hear what other people have their impressions.

I find it difficult to set this up and have the car not bog down and not be jerky when I suddenly get on the throttle in low gear and at a low RPM.

I am using MAP based enrichment with a taper. I can get my settings on here tonight but I wanted to get a discussion started.

i could never get any consistency out of MAP based enrichments. the problem i had was once i got it work smoothly out of boost, it would make the car run pig rich as the turbo spooled. spooling turbo = large mapDOT, but doesn't seem to require much (if any) accell enrichment.

i've had much better luck with TPS based enrichments.

I'm running MAP enrichment and at a low steady pace I'm running in the 10 A/F ratios. Well I'm running ITBs and the vacuum pressure drops so fast the it will go into the top side of the fuel map. So I left it like that. I would try TPS based as therieldeal said.

I'm using TPS based because my map signal varies too much under boost. My sensor is remote in the engine bay, the vacuum hose is about 1.5 feet long and I still get jerky map signal at high boost. (it's fed at the back of the GTR manifold)

I personally find that TPS works ok but it's still jerky under acceleration in some areas of the map. The problem I've noticed with TPSdot is that if I'm very low in the map running 16 AFR, and I get on the pedal, since I tune using tpsdot, It has to be closer to 16 but if i'm in the higher part of the map at 14.7 AFR, with the same tpsdot, I need to aim for 14.7.

That's impossible and hence the bogging at very low map. I tried using mapdot but under boost, the signal is bad and I can't do anything useful with that.

I also have the decel set to 100. Ideally, you want it somewhere at 65-75% to avoid jerking under deceleration. However, under boost, it was sensing a decel when my foot would slightly move on the pedal and it would cut fuel and the engine running lean. To avoid melting pistons, I set it to 100% and live with the jerking at decel. If anyone has an idea on how to fix that, let me know.

It is recommended to remove accel enrichments under boost if using the MAPdot feature. Observing a stock car of the same vintage, when you stab it, you want your AFs to jump to something rich (11s) and then back to normal AFRs in a smooth fashion.

If you set your AE target to 11s for all tps or map dots, the car will jerk alot. I tried that and it didn't feel stock to me at all, it felt way over-damped.

I don't remember if you can set the max map to use mapdot or tpsdot, will have to double check. Post your mapdot AE settings if you can, I will try a blended 50/50 setup.

theoretically you don't want the AFR to go any richer than it normally would be at that part of the map. you simply want to stop it from going lean. obviously there will be some error and it will swing rich a little... but the more/longer that happens, the more power you are losing.

Here are my accel settings. They are quite smooth. 550cc RC low impedence injectors. MSI Extra hi res code.

Do you have any filter on the map line to smooth out the map readings?

Interesting, I don't have any menus similar to the Accel decel trigger dot window you posted. Would have been nice to have. I should point it out on the MSe2 boards.

standard MS2 doesnt have an option to turn off mapdot accel in boost. that would solve the issues i had with it...

I do have a small fuel filter for a lawn mower inline with my MAP signal. It has greatly smoothed out the signal. The canister is about as small as an old 35mm roll of film canister (you guys still know what that is?)

Nope but I'll check the tiny fuel filters at Cantire, they have some very small ones that could probably be used for that.

If I remember correctly it was pretty generic. Got it at Princess Auto which is a generally cheap hardware store
