    smoke's ms thread

    got ms installed today just having a starting issue when it wants to start it runs pretty good

    basically it starts when it wants to no clue why

    ignition switch is kinda messed up sometimes it takes 5 tries for the started to kick on was like this before ms



    any help would be great

    Mine takes 3-4 tries before it starts when the engine is cold, but starts right up when it's warm. I think it's because it's so rich and I haven't tuned it yet.

      yea mine don't really start up if i get lucky it will not sure it has anything to do with my failing ignition switch or that i am using a msd blaster2 coil but right now im stuck not working with it because my radiator went on me yesturday

        My MS built by lex started no issue everytime (even with the turbo map loaded once.. Oops) . Does it not crank over or does it crank endlessly?

        When it does start what RPM do you get when cranking? Do all the other sensors register?

        As far as the blaster I'm running a blaster coil and a 6AL with no issue

          Mine tries to start, but sputters and dies. It does that 3 or 4 times, then starts fine.

            you guys just need to work on getting the cranking pw's dialed in

              i just cranks over endlessly all sensors register and i get about 260rpms during cranking the dist timing shows about 14 btdc

              didn't get a chance to time it because the rad started leaking im pulling off the old turbo setup and getting a new ignition switch and rad because they need to be replaced

                that is a lot of cranking advance. i use like 8 degrees.

                    if you're saying that a timing light reads 14 while cranking, that is too much cranking advance.

                      no that's while it was running and i was about to adjust the timing


                      anyone using an aem wide band and know what voltage is 14.7:1 2.34v is 14.68 but the ms rounds it down so the gauge isnt matching what the ms is reading

                        ah ok sorry

                        as long as the current advance displayed in megatune matches your timing light, you are good to go. you never ever have to move the distributor again.

                        even if it doesn't match, simply adjust your trigger offset in MS

                          just had to add that im using an acer 751h 11" netbook running vista with iogear GUC232A serial to usb and it works great
