OEM replacement top caps

Surely someone somewhere knows who makes the oem replacement.

Mazda/Tracer tells me that these are obsolete, yet KYB, Monroe and others make strut mounts.

My fronts were good to reuse.

Rears are what I need, see attached....

I'm more than just a little anxious to get this ordeal completed, so any finds will be most appreciated....

My old PC croakin has bumed me out, all my email contacts and favs all wiped out for no appearent reason about the time the wife became ill in time for the Dunes meet in June.

from what i can tell the top hats/spring seats are the same for 2wd and 4wd. its the piece above the spring seat that is different(the rubber insulator which adds hieght). either way i have a different mazda part number for it then the one that was on your diagram, mine is...

so if KYB and monroe do make them still why notuse those?

I'll call Mazda local here and give then this # correct? and it should work for either?

Most parts clerks will say something must be different because the #s are different. But logistically it would make sense something works because quick struts have them.

Update: These parts are available from the dealer for about $20.00 each for the Gt/GTX part number in green on the yellow arrow.
The other number just does not exist. And at time time as I know it is a dealer item only.

This has been a pain in the ass. I'll but ready struts from here on!

I pulled some from a tracer here in Idaho and they only had surface rust. Lots more at the yard, you need some I can get some. I put in the standard ones since I went with KYB's and deleted the AAS. I think the standard tophats are better than the AAS ones, especially in the front because they use ball bearings instead of slide rings.

I just ordered the GTX top hats Tuesday, keep in mind the top hat is not the strut mounts or bearings that go on the front.

The top hat is just the part (tin/metal) that seats over the rubber isolator, that rests on the top of the coil springs.

yeah thats what I meant. I had ordered new strut mounts thinking it was everything. When I realized it wasn't I pulled the tracers tophats out at a u-pull-it yard. Cleaned and repainted. Mounted up fine with the KYB's, H&R's and new mounts.
