    BP Tuning?

So what exactly is needed to tune a BP motor, for example if I do a turbo build? I searched around and saw that a lot of people use $1500 standalone systems, is this really needed? Is there a more affordable option?

Sorry for the newb-ness, I come from the Ford Zetec world were all I’d need is a SCT programmer and chip.

I'm pretty sure if you find GTX parts, IE gtx injectors and ecu, you'd be fine running stock boost. but if you really want to take charge of your timing and fuel maps you'd need to go standalone.

Yeah, I don’t plan on running stock boost, looking to make around 300whp.

Megasquirt. Theres a plug and play system on these boards somewhere for like $500. Do some searching. The answers are there.

i have a bunch of newb-esk questions. 1. when you use a manual boost controler and turn up the boost, do you have to change the tune on the msIv3.0? 2. do you need the wide band to properly tune? 3. can the ms turn on/off nitrous and the vics? i think the ms can control any electric solenoid, it wouldnt be too hard to turn off a nitrous solenoid and turn on the vics when it sees boost. i think that is it for now.
              I am an idiot.

it actually even has provisions for a secondary fuel map when nitrous is engaged, so you can run a dry shot and tune the fuel from the MS
