went to new england dragway today, finally got a chance to run on slicks!
basic setup:
23x8.5x15 M&H slicks at 12-13psi
Toyota gearbox conversion
Quaife LSD
6 puck clutch/2200 pound pressure plate (holding up great)
23psi peak boost (it kinda floats around which is annoying, i need to post a log graph)
webcams 505+2.5 cams, intake retarded 6*/exhaust advanced 6* (crank deg)
i got faster and faster as the day went on! this was very encouraging. at one point i did add a gallon of 104 unleaded, and bumped up my ignition timing by 1*. i was getting slight peppering on the plugs but the car HAULED ASS with no audible knock/ping. AFR at peak boost was tuned to around 11.7-11.8, timing at peak boost ended up being 15.0 at 4.5k ramping up to 17 at 6k+
my friend got EVERY PASS on video! she needs to convert them to video files and send them to me, i'm hoping to have them up on youtube by Monday.
anyway, on to the numbers and VIDEOS!
first run (time trial 1) was a 12.67 at 114, 2.09 60'. not bad for having not raced in damn near a year...
second run (time trial 2) was 12.35 at 113, the 1.89 60' was .01 off from my PB. the ET was damn close to my PB of 12.28 as well.
**this is when i added the race fuel and 1* of timing. adding 1 gallon of 104 should have given me roughly 95 octane in the tank.**
third run (brackets rnd 1) i completely botched the launch, 12.85 at 116. 60' was 2.27. i knew immediately that the timing change had worked though, look at that trap! i had dialed in at 12.10, but luckily the other guy red lighted so i got to move on. i also looked at my logs, and compared the amount of time i spent in 4th between 5k and 6k to the log of the previous run... i shortened it up by 0.40 seconds!
fourth run (brackets rnd 2) was 12.104 at 116, with the same 12.10 dial in! damn near a perfect run... except i fkn red lighted . 60' on this pass was 1.799, almost a tenth faster than my old PB (1.88)!
fifth run (RO) was 12.016 at 116, 1.797 60'. i tapped the revlimiter at the top of 2nd, wasting a split second... this could have easily been an 11 second pass had i made that shift. this run represents my new PB 60' time.
and finally....
sixth run (RO) was as follows:
1.828 60'
5.040 330'
7.662 1/8 mi @ 94.51 mph
9.943 1000'
11.871 1/4 mi @ 117.64 mph !!!!
I basically just gave it hell, and tried to make all of my shifts as quick and precise as possible. i didnt flat-foot any shifts, but i did slam through the gears pretty hard :D
so there you have it, an 11 second street-driven freak show of an EGT . timeslip scans and videos are on their way as soon as possible!
