    MS GM coolant sensor

I found out that the stock mazda coolant sensor has a different resistance curve and is way off above 40 dec C. So I will get the GM coolant sensor this week and install it. How do you guys install it? I know it's a 3/8 NPT, will it bolt in the stock location instead of the mazda sensor? I don't want to drain the coolant to realize it doesn't fit.

I also switched to the GM IAT and placed it in my hot pipe besides the intercooler, that way it almost never heatsoaks.

    wat?

i am using the stock mazda clt sensor, you simply change some settings to fix the resistance curve

This is the way I went about it. Calibrated MS to read the Mazda sensor appropriately.

In MS2, it's a 3 point table and MS makes 2 linear curves with the 3 input points. I have a 88 deg tstat but MS always shows 82 deg when cruising on the highway. When I stop, temperature climbs up to 86 but the block is clunking, like if the temperature was actually way above 90. Down low, the curve is ok but up top, the slope seems to be wrong.

I'll take a spare one I have and try sticking it connected to MS in a hot bowl of water with a thermometer and see if I get the same readings on both.

Jon, what values did you use to calibrate your CLT sensor with MS2?

i could check for you, it seems to read spot on. i have a 180* thermostat and it reads right around 180 when driving around.

Please, let me know. I have a 190 tstat and it always shows 180 when cruising. And I didn't install the wrong tstat, lol.

                Thanks ryan.

                I was using
                -20 15000
                40 1500
                80 310

I changed 80 to 350 and it reads 7 degrees higher now up top. Unlike the stock ECUs, MS is way too sensitive to sensor variations. 6 degrees higher and the car runs like crap, too lean across the board. The CLT correction factor is way too agressive, really annoying. I'll have to pull it out and test the specific one I have.
