    fe3 tuning?

    i have a b2000 and i will be swapping in a fe3 out of a 02 kia sportage. my question is that i want to put a small turbo on the truck and be able to half a$$ tune it. what are my options without going mega squirt. this is suposed to be my daily driver and not a hot rod. i dont wanna go nuts on this truck, the plan is that i can park my festiva so it can get more extensive progress. it is hard to put a full cage in a car you have to drive to work. know what i mean. its probably just a pipe dream but if after a few months of driving it i could build up a low boost turbo set up for the truck it would be awsome.

    honestly, you're probably better off searching in an mx-6 forum about the FE3 management...there are a FEW people here who know the dirty details, but ppl with 1st gen mx6s usually swap out their 2.2 for an fe3...people have even done fe3 swaps on b-series trucks too.

      The sportage motor will require some work, and doesn't put out nearly as much power as the Mazda variant. 9.2:1 compression ratio, lax cams, cast crank/rods, I don't see it handling boost for very long. The Kia engine shoots out ~130HP and the top-level Mazda shoots out ~170HP. If you can find a Mazda ECU (try amazd.co.nz) and used a Kia engine then there should be enough headroom to handle some light boost before things go boom.

                meaning that i will have to run the kia computer or a stand alone as the disty for the mazda computer would be right in the firewall. is there some place that could just reflash my kia computer? lex?

                  if you are running low (5psi) boost, why not just use everything kia and then add a mechanical fuel pressure regulator to increase fuel pressure under boost. People have been doing this for low boost setups since Ron Nash invented rrfpr in the 1970s. Just dont ever try to run higher boost with just the regulator or its zoom zoom boom time

                        yeah so lol, why not just megasquirt it man? making an OBDII engine live in a truck made in the same year I was will not be easy, why not take advantage of your best friend, no OBDII testing.

                              mitsubishi doesnt have a distributor, they use a crank angle sensor that would take up way less space than a distributor and the input sit of the sensor looks like the end of a mazda distributor. plus they use coil packs too, that you can mount anywhere.
