How does the boost light work & where is it connected?

I got my car with it disconnected and I wanted to know how does the boost light work & where it connects to?

It runs from the ecu to the cluster. I believe its the white and blue wire.

I connected it today and i notice that it come on & stays on whenever i start the car. Is this normal? How does it work? What trigger it?

its triggered by the ecu. I think its based on the air flow meter position.

There's a boost sensor... somewhere. I'll have to bust out the FSM and see if I can find it. It should come on at roughly 5psi.

EDIT: Ok I can't find my FSM. I'm in a hotel room and haven't transferred it onto the laptop. Anyone else have one, or remember where it is?

I know the capri has one but I don't think 323s have a boost sensor other than the overboost switch.

way wrong. On the firewall there is a vacume block where a bunch of vac lines go, right off of that there is a hose that goes to a little black thing which kinda looks like a UFO and that is the pressure sensor for boost and overboost. i am pointing at the pressure sensor in the pic.

Thanks I remembered what it looked like but for the life of me couldn't remember where the hell it was.

Thanks for the input guys it is really informative. I now know what to do for the b6t engine. After i saw this diagram i notice that i did not state what engine i have. I have the bpt engine in my bf with the bpt engine loom. I want know how to hook it up properly for the bpt engine.

If u have a bp26 ecu running with the bpt and bpt harness then there is actuly a pin on the ecu for a boost light and another pin for a overboost buzzer. I can get u a diagram if u r using a bp26 ecu. Otherwise on a bpt harness there is no pressure sensor, it reads from a combo of rpm, maf sensor. If u r running standalone then ur screwed and gotta figure it out on your own

I am in luck as I have the bp26 ecu running with the bpt and bpt harness.

It says pressure SWITCH which is overboost switch. I have that disconnected on my gt and boost gauge/light still functions the same.

I bet you disconnected the harness not the vac lines.

Ill get u a wiring digram tonight so u can splice in a boost light.

Shorestiva- disconnecting the harness from that switch is what most people do so they don't get the annoying overboost buzzer.
