    Oil Pan removal issue

I need to change the front oil seal on my 1988 GTX street car. While I should have just used a dent puller to pull the seal, I noticed a small drip, hardly noticeable unless you are under the car, coming from the rear of the oil pan, so I decided to do the job "right" and reseal the oil pan while I was at it. However, after removing all the bolts and getting the oil pan loose, I found that the oil pan will not come off the car!!!!! The rear most corner of the pan interferes with a rib on the transmission. View from the front of the car, sort of:

SO, how do I overcome this interference? The oil pan seems to be locked in place by a combination of this rib, the oil pump pickup tube and the rear main seal carrier. Is there some special way to twist the pan to get it off?

    Thanks,

    Bob

It looks to me to be a J-spec tranny and that interference area we usually hacksaw off.

Really hard to tell with the pictures. It looks like the pan is hitting the TC forward area/

I have 4 trannies here and they all have that lip. I have taken off the oil pan while in the car many times here and at the wreckers without any issues like you are having Bob. Just keep goofin with it..it will come off.

not much help in the FSM, you must have the JDM tranny. i would dremel cut that ear off the oil pan, there are enough bolts holding it in already
