? "Manual Boost Controller Set Up" ?

Been a while and I'm finally able to wrench on my GTX a bit. Installed a Rocketman ECU, and I'm trying to get the boost up.
I made a home brew boost controller, I used the following link.

    http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/arti...ler-works.html

I then installed it in line between the wastegate and the pressure side of the intake.

It made some difference. I'm getting about 10-11psi, when before I was reaching 8-9psi. I did disconnect the boost cut off.

I have tried stretching the spring, tightening the screw down all the way, and I still can't get over 11(according to my gauge). Do I have something wrong here?

    Thanks in advance.

leave it to the DSM guys to make a homemade MBC, someone must have forgoten to tell them that they are cheap on ebay. yours is probly just letting to much air leak by and not working properly.

Isn't there a donut-shaped restrictor in the line close to the WG that you have to remove?

Nope. What the boost controller is doing is stopping the WG actuator from opening.

I think I may have the lines reversed??? I will swap them and let you know what happens.

if the lines reversed yould get a boost spike, and there wouldnt be pressure in the line to open the wastegate. it sounds like the spring just isnt tight enough, thats half the issue with making them, you need the right spring.... if you tighten the bolt that pushes on the spring all the way in the wastegate wont open, unless the springs waaaaay to weak.... just make sure the accutator lines on the side with out the ball in the inlet, and the pressure/ feed is on the ball side. aside from that what your doing should adjust it....

The way I have it right now is, ball side is the line coming from the wastegate, and the other end is going into the intake. Sound right?

The intake pressure should be pushing the ball/spring in to allow air to go into the wastegate actuator.

Agree. I bought a manual boost controller off of ebay, I think. It's been a while. I think the brand was VooDoo. It was like $15 or something. Works very well. Cheapest boost in HP I ever spent. Not really though because in order to do it, I also had to buy a different ECU a few other things. That just happened to be the least expensive piece of the bunch.

Ok.. So I swapped the lines on the boost controller and now achieve a solid 12-13psi. If I'm WOT the boost will peak at lets say 13 then drop down a pound. I think this may be from the boost controller not sealing perfectly, which may also be why I still can't get up to 16psi. Thoughts?

what turbo? you probably just have to turn the knob some more... the vj20s kinda useless above 14 or so as its all hot air i think ive heard, never attempted to use one tho....

It's all stock, I beleive it's the vj20. You maybe right about the 14psi max. I just figured since the ecu was mapped to safety run 16psi that the turbo could produce that.
