    Bp swapped mx3 charging issues

Basically the alt is overcharging my battery.

I have changed the Alternator, the battery, the ignition switch, checked all grounds, checked all connections, Swapped the 80 fusible link in the underhood fuse block

I am horrible at diagnosing electrical issues, but what am i missing?

double check the 2 wire connector @ the alt and be sure it is seated and not corroded to hell .. that ( i believe) is the issue , had the same problem and that connector wasn't 100% clicked in

The connector is plugged in and the terminals clean, the problem is somewhere in the wiring . So i get to start tracing wires and see where its bad to and replace from there.

when he first got the car it had a charge light on, eventually the battery died and he put in the optima, what battery is in there right now? maybe the battery is shorted causing it to over charge? can you unplug the battery when its running and get a reading from the alt thats normal? make sure of the 2 wires on the plug, one reads about 14v with the car on, and the other wire should read half that, making it not over charge. make sure your grounds are good, if its a different battery than the optima, which i believe he sold local, just toss in a know good battery... it could be a few things, alt, wiring or battery really.....

by the way, im the one who found you on craiglist the one day selling parts...

i also have about 3 or 4 starting/charging harness's in the garage if you find something super bad in it, but i dont remember there being any issue before he sold it after he changed the battery.....

I had my optima red top in it, which it killed in 3 months. Put a cheap battery in it till i find whats wrong.

At the terminal one plug should read 14.1-14.7 volts and the other plug roughly 1 volt.
Im not getting a reading on the 1 volt pin,( pin L) which after reading through the fsm for an mx3 looks like its the pin that powers the charge light and is eventually grounded out by the ign switch. So sometime this week when i have a free moment at work im going to trace down that damn short.
I also found a large voltage drop between the battery and the B+ wire on the alternator so that will be where i go first. (.7 volts was the drop)

Yea im planning on turboing this one again once i figure out whats wrong with the charging system.
