hey all just thaught this may help a few gtr owners out there with the preservation of there beasts,

    okay so, sofar ive found:

-the distributer guts from a 626 "fe" model were used for the distributer the wireing/ set up all the same just in a 323 bp core.

-the rotor.and disty dust cap are from a 626 "fe" 90s model

-the grey sensor is from the 626 "fe" 90s model

-the afm is from a mazda luice or 929 late 80's model

-the clipers and disk set up is from a mazda cosmo 90s model

-the shocks are from a 626 late 80s to mid 90s model

-oil cooler speculated from a fe3?

-the 626 4wd has the same hubs and driveline set up bar the driveshaft and axle distances, also gearbox housing, speculated internals same.....

how about the other 4wd gtr lovers you guys got any infos?....

ALL BS. i would take side by side pics if i still had the distributor, but it is IDENTICAL to a stock BP distributor externally. i either sold or gave it to a friend when he was having issues with his escort GT. when i swapped from the GTR dizzy to an EGT dizzy i didnt have to change a single setting on my megasquirt. to me that says it was identical internally as well.

-oil cooler speculated from a fe3?
possibly, cant confirm as i dont have an FE3

the rest of the stuff you mentioned, i cant really comment on as i'd need to have the whole car in order to check

jon, the disty internals were carried over from the FE models to the BP- mind you the FE is the father to the BP. The bore diameter (into the head) & the shaft that runs through & touches on the cam are the same diameter just a different length. all of the electrical bits are the same.

The oil cooler however was not- it is significantly different for the water inlet/outlet sizes

they are the luice air flow meter numbers lol

as for the disty the gtr and fe3 are supposed to send a stronger signal than the bp series altho your right physicaly they are the same shape and size bar the engine diffrinces, the fe3 and gtr share a plastic rotor cap and a higher rotor to avoid friction with the cap both mitsubishi made

idk about it being a stronger signal or being a taller cap/rotor that sounds just like some fancy story. id be really really hard pressed to believe that

yeah its BS. there are two different BP distributors, optical and magnetic. my GTR dizzy was magnetic, i swapped it out for an optical. i have had both versions in stock escorts. what your saying essentially is that the BP dizzy is based on the FE dizzy (i'll buy that) but that still makes the GTR dizzy 100% of nothing special at all.

as for the ignition parts being different, i used the same cap and rotor on both dizzys so.... yeah.

there is no such thing as a "stronger" signal... its a saw wave signal of a specific voltage.

Mazda already said they took a lot of parts from the Capella, aka the 626/Ford Telstar, to build the GTR. Parts are also similar to the '90+ MX-6/Ford Probe GT, and I've personally suspected the 929 has similar parts although I haven't proved that yet (other than noticing they use 5 stud hubs, that's as far as I've investigated). I know some guys use the Capella struts + brakes as a cheap PaP oem replacement (thread here: http://www.amazd.co.nz/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12070).

Does this include the rear discs and calipers as well? Any info on whether there are any North American spec vehicles that share the GTR's brake setup?
ie. Escort GT, Probe, Protege, etc?
