You will need an ECU with 2 ignition drivers - ie a Miata ECU.

You need 2 or 4 ignition drivers, can't do that with the stock ECU. I'm running these in wasted spark mode with MS and TBH, they suck. At first they seemed to work well at low medium boost and I was running 0.038 gap but at high psi (above 19) on the VJ23, I still get occsional spark blow out with a 0.030 gap. They are maybe better than the crappy miata coilpacks and stock coil but still not worth it, usual toyota stuff only good for fuel efficiency. They don't have enough stored energy and the voltage is still 37KV so you can't open up the gap. You get rid of the plug wires though so that's nice. If I were to redo it, I wouldn't bother.

i was going to use a msd dis-4, but im still not sure what coils i want to use, are the aem pencil coils any good? what about msd ones for a ls1 or 4.6 mustang? i was going to use megasquirt with a 99 cam angle sensor and maybe a crank sensor to? i really havent researched it out yet

Your MS will need an additional ignition driver added - it is meant to work with the stock disty since it's a PNP.

I set my MS up to work wasted spark and I've got some COP's off of a Millenia that I'll be puttin in this winter. If your gona run wasted spark you are also going to need a way to trigger it. I ended you going to the junk yard and finding a 4-2 cas wheel from a mitsubishi that was wasted spark. Then just replace the stock one behind the rotor.

the V6 guys drive coil packs with MS im fairly sure you cn do wasted spark COP with the MS with some modding, im currently looking at (after the car is running on ms) sequential injection on a V6.
