hey guys i have a 92 ford festiva and i am doing a bp swap into this car and the bp came form a 95 protege and i am going to be using a 88 n/a 323 f series tranny. i was wondering if any one hear has done a bp swap into the 323 and is using the f series tranny what their clutch setup is and what works the best. i have a flywheel for a 1.8 SOHC that had a f series tranny would that work with what i want to do? could i use a protege clutch?

you should be able to use a 1.8 sohc clutch on the 1.8 sohc flywheel
always match the clutch and flywheel to the transmission. unless you are me or one of the other crazies following in my footstepsEscort GTR -- 11.87 @ 117.6 mph -- 320 HP / 325 Ft. Lbs. @ 23 PSI

ok, i didn't know if the tranny would be able to mate with it. they do have the same spline count so it should ok. also i have a starter for the 91 protege same tranny, but the tranny i have is a 88. i ordered one from advance auto parts for the 88 and it is a little different form my 91 starter like the back half of it is a little different but it bolts up the same? think it make a difference?

iirc the interchange list for 80s/90s 4 cylinder mazda starters is HUGE. as in, they pretty much all fit.Escort GTR -- 11.87 @ 117.6 mph -- 320 HP / 325 Ft. Lbs. @ 23 PSI

but i believe matching a 88 F series that was ment for a 1.6 will be missing a few bolts when matched to a BP. i thing some of the oil pan bolt holes dont align. no big deal though"See that car, in the 80's that car was deadly." Random man to his son while passing the GTX in a parking lot
