    axle question

    just curious... are the axles the same for the mx3 between the v6 and four banger cars, or are they different... like longer, more splines, etc.?
    there's a four cylinder one on craigslist that im kinda plotting on for $400 that needs new axles, and then a wrecked v6 car up for parts, so im just curious if they're interchangeable.

    In need of a little more information about the motor in the car.

    I know when I did my BP swap into my 1.6 I4 SOHC RS that the axles didn't match up. The 1.6 had a smaller axle and I went to the junk yard and got a MX-3 V6 one for the swap and I'm using them now. Pretty sure thats how it went but then again I got some knuckles off of a Protege also.

      The v6 axles are 28 spline spline and passenger side uses a jack shaft and axle, drivers side same length, Has different splines on trans side only.

      The 92-93 b6 single cam cars use a 26spline axle, the passenger axle is a long one piece axle, and the drivers is same as v6 but different number of splines at tranny side.

      Not sure about 94 and up b6 dohc cars on spline count but im pretty sure they have a stub shaft and axle on the passenger side like v6 and the same length on the drivers side.

        1.6 sohc/dohc, 1.8 sohc (protege) = 24 spline, long axle on driverside
        v6 = 28 spline, intermediate shaft
        1.8 BP (protege, egt) = 26 spline, intermediate shaft

        those are for the inner/transmission end. all axles have the same 26 spline outer.
