What offset for 17" rims fit best for the bf?

What offset for 17" rims fit best for the bf? I don't understand what an offset is, could someone enlighten me on this topic. Does the rim sizes from 15" - 17" have the same offset? I want change my rims but i don't kno what offset to tell the sales rep.

Hope you don't have messed up roads in your area... 17's will have virtually no rubber around them. I think the previous owner of my GTX had 17's on it for a little bit, they were stock mazda rims of some sort. +52 or something or something ridiculous.

My son ran some 17x7 Technomagagnesio wheels with a 40 offset with success. Tires I think were 245/40-17's..... not alot of rubber there and wore out quick. Rode like a brick too. This size will also raise the BF off the ground. No drop springs or coilovers were on this car either....might have helped a little though. Personally I like the 15's with 195/50's on the BF for all around everthing... but I am an old guy. 16's are the biggest I would go with 245/45's. My .02 worth.

I'm with Clay other than I'd run 205/50/15 with the right offset.

Offset is the distance, in mm, between the centerline and the mounting face of the wheel. It can be either positive or negative. Offset is more positive if the centerline is displaced toward the strut and less positive if the centerline is displaced toward the wheel well. Most 4-lug Proteges have a +45 mm offset.

Offset is usually stamped on the inside of alloy wheels using the German prefix "ET", meaning "Einpresstiefe" (insertion depth) followed by the number, in mm. For example: ET40 for a 40 mm offset.

          Happy Motoring!

15 inchers look great. 17 inchers are just too much rim. Also, like everyone says, they ride like crap.

i agree with everyone else about the 17's. to me they just seem like they are just too big for our 323's. 14's or 15's are good. 16's are pushing it.

of course its your choice, but here is an example. mine on 14's..

I think as long as you are close to plus 40 or higher you will be okay.

Then 15" it is.... I am thinking of installing a set of 15" that come stock on the JDM 96 DC2 Integra type R & spray them gunmetal or black to with colour of my car. They are 4 x 114.4 15"

Ive got 16s on my car and with 205/55/16 tyres they were to big, was rubbing on the strut/springseat, so i had to use 5mm spacers. I suppose it wouldnt be a problem if you had coilovers. Ive gone down to 195/45/16 tyres and ditched the spacers and all is fine now. So with 17s i reckon you might have issues depending on what sort of tyres you got on there.

Yeah.. Tire selection is super limited in a 40 or 30 series tires...

Some more info to throw out there:

                        overall diameters:
                        155/80-13 = 22.76
                        175/70-13 = 22.64
                        185/60-14 = 22.74

These were the factory sizes all BF chassis cars came with. As far as aftermarket sizes, these are some suggestions:

                        195/60-14 = 23.21
                        195/50-15 = 22.68
                        205/50-15 = 23.07
                        195/45-16 = 22.91
                        205/40-16 = 22.46
                        195/40-17 = 23.14

Any thing else is going to possibly have fitment or other issues. I have personally run 155/80-13, 175/70-13, 185/60-14, 195/60-14, 185/55-15, 205/50-15, 195/40-17, and 205/40-17s on BF 323 sedans. I think 205/50-15 is a all-around choice but be careful with your offset. The main place you will run into issues is the rear fender lip, which can be *encouraged* out of the way with a careful hand and a 3 lb sledge hammer.

Here are some pics of various fitments:

First is with 15x6 et46 Mitsubishi Lancer OZ wheels, 205/50-15 Falken Azenis RT-615s.

Next is 15x7 et40 Drag DR31, 205/50-15 Falken Azenis RT-615s, and lowered around 2 inches. rears rubbed on fenderlips over bumps, and fronts rubbed on fender lips under hard cornering. 10 minutes with a 3 lb sladge hammer fixed both issues.

Now here's where things get a little crazy. Next three pics are 17x7.5 et 32, with 205/40-17 Falken ZE-512 in the front and 195/40-17 Yokohama S-drive in the rear, slammed a ridiculous amount. This setup *barely* scrubbed over dips and bumps, and rubbed in the front under sharp cornering as in parking lots.

Last three were when I intially put the 17's on, falkens in the front and 205/40-17 spectors in the back.

The reason i'm running this wierd stagger setup now is I thought the s-drives would give me extra clearance, but apperently yokohamas run large compared to other tires in their size. Falkens run small. Ergo my strange setup.

                        I'm going to 15x8 et30 F and et 20 R, with 195/50-15 Falken Zeix ZE-512's next.
