Capella and Ford Telstar (AWD V6 Option)

I have been doing some research and making some phone calls trying to find some info/locate the very rare Capella/Telstar AWDs. To say the least it has been a fail. For those of that dont know these cars optioned in an AWD V6.. They were based on a short lived CG chassis which must share many similarties with our platforms on this forum the cg's came with f and k series motors.

Any one else ever look into this and have better luck than myself. I imagine out of the many klze's that have been brought over there has to be some of these transmission laying around who knows maybe someone has one in the U.S that came along with the ZE..

My Goal is to have an AWD V6 Turbo Mx-3.. Some Time in life....

I'd snoop around fordlaser.com or one of the NZ mazda boards. WAs that 626mps anything other than a concept wetdream?
'90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and
'90 AWD Protege, yet another GTR swap, Open class rallycar with a Toyota GT4 gearbox swap, thus crossing the line between hobby and mental illness. And a Brabus E55 K8, removing all doubt.

pretty much, like you said one hell of a "wet dream". I believe around 4 toured auto shows...

Bad News, I am finding not only were these cars rare to in the AWD V6 but tended to be auto's

Ill be keeping an eye out atleast try to get some pictures. I have a few contacts that may be a great help.

Now you're talking my language...4wd turbo(I'd put twin turbo though) v6. I say have an adapter plate made like suggested and slap a evo or yota trans on it. If I had a good fat wallet I'd put it towards that goal. Can you imagine what a 700+hp twin turbo v6 4wd protege BG would fel like???

^ you sound like a early 90s tuner thinking that a twin turbo in a 2.5L engine is better than a 2.5L single turbo! lol

they were Inline 6 though (or rotary), and RWD. not a V6/FWD. Plumbing to make a TT V6 FWD actually worth the TT might be slightly difficult, considering the package it's got to fit in...

You forgot the 300ZX-TT. My brother had a non turbo, even it had enough power to spin the tires all the way down the block. Could you get a Ford Escape with AWD and manual tranny? I know you could get the Yota Rav4 with them, that tranny is based on the Celica All-Trac box, as was the Camry All-Trac.

It would feel like a twisted chassis that whistles

It would be really sick though, kinda like that 600hp 323 with the GT4 trans swap on youtube in a burnout contest.

Hi, I have a 1998 2.5 V6 Capella Wagon with one of these AWD transmissions. In fact mine is a bit broken, I have lost 3rd and 4th in it (hence me finding this thread!).
They are all auto's, and there are a fair few of them over here in NZ. The auto-transmission shop says they are a bit weak as these cars are quite heavy, being over 1700Kg, having said that mine has done over 200,00Km without problems.
We will be putting in a second hand box, there not too hard to source evidently.

I figured out Turpro was an old man like me, when he asked me if he should add a EQ to his audio system. I was like EQ? Dude how old are you LOL
