megasquirt users what do you tune with?

whos using what? i havent got mine back yet, but i already think im goin to start off with tunerstudio, it seems like it has more going for it. i think itll be really nice when its actually out of the beta versions. i also read something about megatunix too but havent got into that yet. i think i read that tunerstudio is going to be odb2 readable too for newer cars or something to that effect, i think its coming with the next version....

Tunerstudio seems like a solid choice and we may switch to that. Just haven't had the time to play with it.

ya i dunno what map im even starting with, i might try deadly sleepers that he gave me for the wue and other stuff, or the 230 map adjusted for 460s how lex says to do it.... probably deadysleepers tho its his fuel and starting map with jons spark map, i think itll be a good starting point, ill just need a tad bit more fuel than him....

          Lex -

Anything you can tell me about the OBDII functions that tuner studio mentions?

OBDII refers to a standard of fault code reporting that deals with the function of the emission systems on cars.

Given the limited amount of info on their site: http://www.efianalytics.com/TunerStudio/

I am not sure what they mean by OBDII support.

For OBDII support to exist, the MS itself must return the necessary fault codes, there must be a correct OBD port present ... etc.

So I don't see the MS being OBD compliant for current versions - perhaps in the future. Maybe what they mean is that Tunerstudio can read OBDII fault codes if connected to a stock ECU?

In any case, it is not a feature that seems to work right now.

I had a feeling this was the case since as you pointed out, their mentioning of it is so vague lol.

Megatune, simple and efficient. I tried tuner studio but it's too heavy for my old P3 laptop that I use for tuning.

really your p3 doesnt wanna run it? what is yours mines only a 1.2ghz with a gig of ram. its just an old dell... i watch the perfomance in task manager, and im not overloading anything... i dont try and run more than like 3 or 4 programs at once tho...

and ya the odb2 i was wondering how theyre gonna try and run monitor tests, im guessing a new version of ms maybe , but im sure thats not so near in the future. then if they do this obd2 stuff, therye going to have to deal with every states legality about computers, ours wont let you replace an ecu or motor with anything older than the year of the vehicle. the only way ive ever really figured to ms a new car is to register it as a kit or special build. which will exempt it from the odb2 plug in part of the inspection.... or a pnp and just have to plug in your stock ecu a few weeks or a month before your due to try and set codes if theres any, and monitors... in ny were allowed 1 on anything above 01 , and 2 on anything back to 96....

It does run on the laptop but it's slow and that annoys me. Since megatune does the exact same thing faster, I use that instead.

Who said anything about 'legal' lol. If it shows up that the car is reading OBD II and passed the sniffer, that's fine by me lol.

our state we have to plug in obd2 cars and the state tells you if they pass, all i can do aside from that is no codes and monitors pass and itll pass in thier eyes...
