I was at my third Ice Time Trials event yesterday. It was a BLAST!! With the warmup from last week, the snow was mostly gone, and the ice was frozen over perfectly smooth. We took the opportunity to go a little on the outside of the track we had before, so it was a hair longer than before.
We had 49 drivers, 21 of which were running studded tires. First two heats are run clockwise, last two counter-clockwise. Your two fastest times are averaged, and that's your time for the day. I had to leave before the 3rd and 4th heats, so didn't get an official final time.
I actually sharpened my tires, but my cutter was getting dull towards the end, so I only got the outer two rows of bolts on my rear tires sharpened. It made the car VERY tail-happy, and slightly hard to control at speed around corners. This should be remedied by next week's event.
Ok, without further ado, here's a quick in-car vid of my fastest run:
Run Number Two (my fastest.).
Here are some photos of the event...

The competition...
Practice run, with a couple passengers..
Some action shots:
This Saab got the living crap beat out of it!!! three drivers used it. This is Wendy driving:
If anyone's around the area, and wants to, COME ON OUT TO AN EVENT!! All you need is a helmet and a seatbelt, and for the car to pass a basic safety inspection. (positive terminal on battery covered, battery held down solidly, no hemmorhaging fluids.) It's 35 bucks to enter for non-members, 25 for members, and 45 covers entry fee and first event if you join right there. If you do two or more events, it's worth it to join..
Next week, Sunday February 7, is the next event. The following week, Saturday February 13, we're hoping to have another night-time event.
