so im not too mechanically inclined

im not too good w/ wiring up harnesses and doing swaps ECT.

but i REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY want a bpt and i mean really

is as hard of a job that some make is out to be?
our should i just take it to the local (kinda local) performance shop that lists everything there is to do to car minus paint and body kit?

If you aren't mech. inclined and don't have pals that are, this is not an easy swap.
'90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and
'90 AWD Protege, yet another GTR swap, Open class rallycar with a Toyota GT4 gearbox swap, thus crossing the line between hobby and mental illness. And a Brabus E55 K8, removing all doubt.

I told a guy once I wanted to box in a tournament. His response to me was, "you'd get hurt". That was all I needed to hear. lol

What I realized later was that everyone that does it gets hurt. Boxing is for the people that understand that and can deal with it.

You'll need tools, a place to work, and as much information as you can find. Read all the work logs, save your money, and go slow. Most important, set a goal and be disciplined about sticking with it. Changing plans in mid stream is expensive, time wasting, and sucks the gumption right out of you.

You'll learn a lot, and good luck.

At home and in my group of friends I am considered mr. Fix it but on here and ia.com I feel like someone who plays w/ Tonka toys
I know I could do it but the 2nd day I had the car 323performance went down so I didn't even have a chance to read a word.
And if I would do it at my house I would try to make a super detailed thread about it so there would be no more stupid ?'s to ask

But is it easy to get overwhelmed in the Mazda game cause the 2 Honda I had were hella east to swap

Well I'm hoping to do just one

if I pick up a awd bpt swap could I just put a block off plate inplace of the transfer can and get some different axles or just find a escort gt tranny?

The bp bolts to your stock gt tranny.

Yeah, use a 2wd transmission.. It'll work out way better for you. And then that means more spares for us 4wd guys. An EGT or ProLX trans would work though.. means you have to do custom/hybrid axles though. Pro/EGT inner for the trans and 323GT outers for the hubs.

Tea I knew the stock b6t tranny bolts right up but don they start breaking down at around 220-230hp?

I'm hoping to see 280-300ish on a mild port , better turbo( I've got a t2871r that is in desprite need for a rebuild and what better reason than a new swap right?)

The bp transmission is the same as the gt except it has a different final drive and inner spline count.
