    NEEDED: Shifter Cables

Anybody know where to get some, or have a set around they'd like to get rid of? I called MMS, and there are none in the USA/Canada that they have in stock, and if they DO have them in japan, they'd take 60-90 days to get here.

I just busted a cable yesterday on Lake Winnebago. The cable itself is still connected, but the metal housing snapped right after the spring-clip. so now, it is VERY VERY tricky to get into 2nd, 4th, or Reverse.

Effectively ended getting good times, yesterday.

I was hoping he might read this and chime in, but I don't know if he's going to keep them for spares of his street car or not.

I was thinkin I'd keep one set as a spare, but I suppose I could let the other set go. What are they worth to ya?

Actually, I was being a complete moron. I actually FORGOT that I had a front clip from a '94 GTX sitting under a tarp, with snow even with the top of the hood. (It's where the snowblower likes to spit.)

So, after much tugging and digging and becoming completely sodden, frozen, and twisted like a pretzel, I was able to snag the cables out of the clip. It is NOT an easy thing to do when the dash is still on the car, and the sound deadening insulation/padding covers up the two 10mm nuts on the firewall, and it's cold enough to make the stuff not bend for crap!!

One of the trans bushings (the big one, Y-axis) is kinda toast, but that's ok, as it will get metal bushings anyway.

Now's a good opportunity to look closely at the shifter-end, though, and see what we can come up with there. The bushing on that end is thin, almost like a heavy rubber coating rather than a bushing.

I was actually thinking of getting the whole 6-speed mitsubishi EVO 8/9 cables/shifter setup, and making that work. The trans ends are basically the same size, and I think the cables would be long enough. Plenty of short-throw kits for that car, too, not that it even needs it.

So yeah, I'm a dork, and a forgetful one at that.

Same happened to me on Thursday, snapped the cable past the metal clip so only have 1, 3 and 5, can't get into 2 4 and reverse. So anyone has a set of cables? I need the one with the big ring. Let me know, it's urgent...

Would the BF GTX cables work on a BG?

Interestingly enough, the cable ends are the exact same as fo the Mitsubishi EVO 8/9 6-speed. I was actually toying with the idea of a shifter/cable swap, but then I remembered my front clip...

Most honda accords use shift cables. Unfortunately, it's winter and I can't just go to the junkyard on a weekend and spend some time taking one apart and checking if it would fit.

P.S. Bought Jay's cables for now though

heh. now, if i break more cables, I'll just have to mod an EVO9 shifter and cables to work! And they have short-shift kits all over the place for them! (actually, the actuation may have a shorter travel anyway, I dunno. so maybe the short-shift kit on an evo shifter is necessary to move the levers on the G-box properly.)
